View Full Version : NTFL Grand Final: St Marys vs. Waratah
St Marys will play Tahs in the 2007/08 NTFL Grand Final after the Warriors defeated Southern Districts in a close game. Chris Kickett could've have won the game for the Crocs if he kicked truly from a snap. Duane Annable kicked six out of ten goals for the Crocs.
Stephens and Linc Withers played well but Withers will have to face the tribunal for the second week in a row after, again, being reported.
Darwin won the U13 Grand Final,
St Marys won the U14 Grand Final,
Palmerston won the U15 Grand Final and
St Marys won the U16 Grand Final.
Waratah play St Marys in the Reserves Grand Final too and Southern Districts play Nightcliff in the U18 Grand Final.

Crap outcome, being a Cocs fan. So that's 2nd vs 4th in the GF.
There wasn't much difference between first and fifth anyway.
IMO Waratah are a far better chance to beat St Marys than Southern Districts. But in saying that, both teams are definately capable of beating the Saints as I don't believe they are that good.

Jarrod Illett (saint Marys) And Warren Berto (nightcliff) Tied For The Ntfl Best And Fairest. Tahs Will Go Into Grand Final After Playing Three Hectic Finals Already And Have One Of Their Best Players To Front Tribunal On Wednesday In Linc Withers. If He Is Rubbed Out Tahs Will Be Desperate For Kris Barlow To Fly Up And Play.

It doesnt look good for Withers. Dont remember the first tackle that he now reported for, but the attempted smother with his leg was a stupid move and he may get one week for it. Its just the NTFL wanting blood and finding anyway possible to get it.
Having said that, GO THE MIGHTY TAHS!!!

Horseshit, he was (rightly) reported by two umpires for the kicking and the people around me, including a couple of NTFL coaches I know thought he should have been reported on the spot for the high contact. + He was extremely fortunate to even be playing after the reckless high contact from the 1st semi.
Everybody else on the ground managed to play without even getting close to being reported but Withers gets reported twice and it's an NTFL conspiracy. please get your hand off it. Here's a hint, don't do stupid things in a prelim final, if 43 other guys can do it, i'm sure it can be done.

If your going to get abusive, at least get your facts right.
Shannon Rusca was also reported for head high contact so not Everybody Else managed to play without getting reported.
Hey I can understand why u dont want Withers playing since you are a Saints man. Without him you may stand a chance in beating the Tahs :P

Rusca's front on contact was worse in the same game.
As a Saints supporter you will be hoping he is rubbed out as Withers has been just about Waratahs best player during the finals and it would make Saints job of winning a lot easier if he was to miss the match.
If both teams were at full strength and fresh, in my opinion Waratahs would win but as we know Waratahs are a bit battered from the final series and will probably lose Withers and maybe Mclean. Kris Barlow will probably come into the side but Saints are fresh and are well coached which may give them the edge.

True, Shannon's was a bit worse (forgot that one :o),
I'd be much harsher if it was a Saints player up on those charges, esp a key player. It's just stupid and uneccessary and if Rick Hall is honest he'd be the same way. Really you just shouldn't do it. If Withers is missing and Tahs get beaten, he should bear a fair bit of responsibility.
I'm not sure why McLean would be missing but he'd be a huge loss TBH, he gave Rusca a touch up on Saturday.

Was injured early in the last quarter and didnt go back on. Looked like a hammy problem again but could have been anything.
Dont know how he has gone at training.

I don't think a team of the year has been announced yet.
Kris Barlow and Linc Withers are out for Tahs this week, it will be a massive blow to the side.
Unsure who Waratah will bring into the side; Sam Jenner, Joshua Davis (the guy who kicked 13 and got dropped the next week) or Matt Cunningham.
Steve Thompson has come in... young fella from kyabram i think is the place... up n down thru ressies...
