View Full Version : Karma or irony?

Bee

I was just sitting outside on my sun deck with a glass of wine and marvelling in the view and the wonderful weather when all of a sudden I see heading straight for me a big swarm of bees. And I mean big.
There were hundreds of them.
I literally froze on the spot, I couldn't get up and run inside because they were too close and moving too fast.
I just sat there thinking, **** I am going to be attacked by a swarm of bloody bees, the irony of it struck me.

I don't mind admitting I was really scared. The bloody things were making a straight line for me.
The cat was on the deck with me, I looked at him and said "Run, baby run", "Go on get out of here ".

Shit where the hell are men when you need them!

Then the swarm just headed upwards and over the roof of the deck.

I tell you what, that glass of wine went down in one gulp!

Now I have had the time to calm down, I can see the funny side of it.
I suppose a lot posters I have infracted on BF would think it was karma, the Bee being done in by her own kind!

Jesus, what an ordeal bee!

It'd be more ironic than anything. Looking back on it, it must be pretty humerous:).

Out of interest, what year (wine that be, we already know you're an old coot:D:D)?

Yeah well it might be funny now, but at the time I had visions of being stung by 300 bees and my husband coming home and finding me all puffed and swollen and dead out on the sun deck with a bottle of Lindemans 2006 Shiraz and a King Island Cheddar on the table in front of me.

I know we all have to die sometime, but I hope I can go with a bit more dignity than that!

But yes, it is quite funny now.

I'll tell you what, you certainly got a good quality wine for what around... $10.00?

The cheese surely cost more than the bottle?

Nice choice, if I may say so myself.

EDIT: Excuse me for derailing the topic at hand!

Eddie, how do you know about wines? You are not old enough to legally drink.
But you are right. The Lindemans is around that price and it is really good.

I am not a wine snob so I buy what I like. I am not dictated to by price.

As for the cheese, yes it's bit pricey, but is the best cheese ever.
Everyone should try it. It's King Island Matured Cheddar it is wrapped in cloth and expect to pay at least $38 a kilo for it. But just a taste will have you hooked! Just superb!

Definately not karma bee, probably more on the irony side of things.

Better you than me though. By the way, what type of bee are you. Bumble bee, Western Honey Bee, a Queen Bee, Worker, Drone.

I'll agree with you on the cheese, I definately miss the King Island Cheeses, none over here, I was quite partial to their Discovery series, very nice cheese.

i know how you feel bee. i was playing a game of cricket in late december up here on the NW coast of tassie, when i looked across and my team mate had commando rolled onto the ground. i just laughed at him and asked what the hell he was doing.

it was then i turned around and was faced with a swarm of hundreds of bees. i too hit the deck for about 3 minutes while we waited for the bees to pass. freaky stuff.

Scary stuff. I suppose it's funny now with me.
But I was genuinely scared. There were hundreds of them.

Same thing happened to me, very hard to explain the feeling, maybe a mixture of feeling Useless, Scared sh1tless, Amazed etc all wrapped into one. It's funny how something so little like a bee can actually make you feel smaller than them, even though there might be 5000 of them. Good thing to experience but only once will do me in my lifetime. Good to hear your ok and laughing about it now Bee, funny stuff. Lucky your name is Bee and not Snake or Spider or Shark, imagine 100 or so of them coming at you, no thanks..

Yahuh, right on the buzzer is old EddieB:).

I'm by no means a wine nor cheese buff (although cheese is awesome:p), but going by the wine label and year, it sounded about right:thumbsu:.

And, while i'm at it, I willingly dismiss any claims that I am a little 15 year old drunk:).

The fear you experienced would be very similar to the fear experienced by opposition posters on our board when they know you are circling. There may only be one of you, but your sting is greater than a swarm of bees.

You have been sent wasps if it was payback from Hawthorn, Melbourne and Richmond fans.

I had a similar experience once.

Bee attacked me. I learnt my lesson;

"Never try to stop your dog from eating a bee"
