There has been a lot of talk on here about the top of the ladder. Will Nyora and Catani reign again? Are Cora Lynn beatable? Will Lang lang and Nar nar Goon improve enough to make the 6 ect.

What about those sides at the other end of the season. Last season Dusties and Kooweerup fought all season for the wooden spoon with just 3 wins between them. There are many questions about last years bottom 6.

Who will be this seasons wooden spooners?

Can Ellinbank slip under the radar and sneak into the 6?

Will Nilma continue to improve?

Will Dusties/ KWR/ Neerim be competitive against the top teams or continue to get flogged?

Buln Buln? Will Colett and his boys be the surprise packets of 2008?

I reckon that Ellinbank will be knocking on the door of the 6. They are always a hard team to beat and play with a real passion. Last year they finished on the same wins as Nar Nar goon yet everyone is saying Nar Nar Goon will make the 6 and no one is talking about Ellinbank.

They have picked up Rob Quafie who has a wealth of football knowledge and should be a good coach. Tom Johnson is a gun player and any side with him should be respected.

Unfortunately i think the Dusties will take the spoon again. Theyve lost some handy players in Ingham and Vanderplight and to a lesser extent Mick McCormack. Picked up a couple too replace them but need a few more to bridge the gap between the others.

KWR have lost a couple of players notably Joshy Winter but have recruited 4 or 5 that will cover the losses.

NNS havent lost too many except Urie but he didnt play much last year anyway. Like Koowee have picked up a few aswell so will be OK.

The gap between the best and the worst in the EDFL is becoming ridiculous. I reckon a 2 tier competion would be the way to go.

Tier 1.
Lang Lang
Cora Lynn
Nyora
Catani
Poowong
Bunyip
Longwarry

Tier 2
Kooweerup
Ellinbank
Dusties
Neerim
Nar Nar Goon
Nilma
Buln Buln

Each team plays each other 3 times. Winner of div. 2 gets promoted. Bottom of div.1 gets relegated.

surely nar nar goond would be in tier 1?? would also save 1 team having a bye every week. would make the comp more even though.

Almost looks like the old West Gippy clubs in one comp and the old Ellinbank clubs in another with a couple of exceptions.

Something along the lines of what your proposing will happen its just a matter of when.

yeah, teams like the dusties where there are 5 other teams in the immediate area are always gonna struggle. Whereas teams like Nyora who have the full towns support behind them..........
