Good by Coburg today and more importantly to me the Richmond listed players.

Little looks good out of the Coburg listed players.

Did Matt(?) Davis (imported QLDer) play today?

Only missing a few of the key players though, King(Traded to Saints), Thompson(Drafted to Kangas), Callan(Traded to Bulldogs), they still had a fair amount of their players, it also wasn't like they are going to play for them this year either, and Coburgs was boosted because of our draftees, Lonergen and Davenport, two of their most damaging players in the finals last year were both very, very quiet.

also, playfair, and gardiner, not to mention those playing in seniors. geelongs depth of experienced playes is gone.

Playfair,Gardiner and Todd Grima were all key players in our VFL side last year, then there's a few more gone like Sam Hunt and Matthew Spencer.James Byrne [injured] was the player we missed most.
There were only 5 players who played in the 2007 VFL GF and we had 9 players on debut.

I knows it's a little bit early, but what does everyone think of Hollmer's chances of being rookied by Geelong or another AFL club?

I thought he played a really good against Coburg yesterday.

BIT O/T but I firmly believe that Coburg has to change it's nickname ..

It's ridiculous to have two teams with the same nickname in the same professional league -Werrible have the right to keep the Tigers monkier.
It's absurd, most Carlton fans have no probs with the Northern Bullants and our reserves wearing their jump and so, ditto Melbourne fans with Sandringham ???

Definitely.. Coburg should return to its name proper, the Lions. It was all due to Richmond meddling with the club when they aligned.. The Lions were broke, and had little option but to accept the change.

Didn't Richmond help Coburg out with a considerable amount of financial support as well though Ons?

Yeah and we still do I believe we still do pretty well. One of the healthiest alliences imo.

What a shocker on the weekend though. Up by 7 goals at 3QT and fell over, lost by three.

Riewoldt and Hughes kicking goals and Polo B.O.G. good for us though to make changes and the Caruso boys doing as they do every week. :thumbsu:

Dean Putt was very good for the Burgers ressies last week got 3 goals and should play coburg this week. Grooming him as a power forward is the word on the street. Good signs!

Not playing football this year, I think he has gone back to the country to work on the family farm and also doing some study.

Wow thats a big move, going from 3rd in the liston and captaining a grand final team to not playing. Haven't seen a game yet this year unfortunately, how are the big man stocks going without him?

Cartledge has pretty much replaced him.

Richmond rookied Tristan Cartlege who has been a very good replacement for so far.

Ronaldson is still on the 2008 Coburg list though so maybe he might try and make a return some time this year?

Angus Graham, returning from injury and Dean Putt, who kicked 3 goals and rucked well by all reports last week in the reserves are also in line to get into the seniors so its all good. :thumbsu:

PHX

Was a late withdrawal last week, still has some hamstring tightness.

It's very likely he'll play a half for Coburg ressies this weekend.

No more time than that to protect those hamstrings and slowly bring him back from there.

PHX
25 Apr 2008, 09:44
Average.

Could be 3-1, but instead are 1-3.

After the big win in round 1, got ran over in round 2 after leading by 7 goals at the start of the 4th quarter and then got beaten with a shot after the siren in round three. THen Port Melbourne outclassed us last week big time.

So yeah 1-3 but I think the percentage is over 100 still and should be an win today against Box Hill to put us back into the 8.

Not sure how keen the local council was to even have them playing there. About 5 years on and that grandstand still isn't fully repaired.

Agreed it's disappointing to see them going North, but maybe they honestly don't think there is a future in Coburg.

Inaccuracy here I think.

Last I heard they would play matches in both areas during the season.

Also Coburg last year could only pay 56% of the salary cap, they have to do something about it, I guess this is it.

It would be disappointing if they were jumping off ship completely though.

29 May 2008, 14:12
I can't see them leaving Coburg entirely.. They were pretty keen to resist the move to Sunbury that had been mooted (?) a couple of years ago. Could it be a bluff to try and get Moreland Council to come up with more money for redevelopment of the Coburg Oval?

Coburgian
29 May 2008, 17:39
The Council has bent over backwards for the Tigwers - th efooty club wanted to use the oval full time and kick the cricketers off - a sad day when local clubs become corporatised.
