What do you think guys. Played a pretty good game, naerly took the mark of the century (what a bloody leap ), kicked a freaky goal and could have had at least 3 more if he wasn't so unselfish, and marked plenty of the ball.
I know there are heaps of games to go, but he was pretty bloody good. :thumbsu:

They wont nominate 2nd year players as easily as 1st year-ers going on last year. Nathan Jones had a great season; finished first or second in their B&F IIRC, and yet didn't get nominated till very late and didn't poll too well in the end.

It took all of Penleberry's class to do so well and it will take a good four or five goal haul from Hawkins to get nominated again, and probably 40 goals for the season to win in front of a mid (i.e. Palmer or Houli).

Certainly not without a chance though, in my biased opinion.

Wouldn't say the 'nearly the mark of the century', though it would have been good, but not unreal.

I think he'd probably get nod, but not for this game. I think one of the Port lads might get a run in out of that game, (Stewart? Is this his first season?).

I will admit though that he hit the packs hard, I bet there is some sore Port players (with sore backs), from the game. This is great to see as it either will be a mark or he brings it to ground.

Needs to improve fitness to finish out a game though.

If only he held onto it, would have been mark of the year for sure

Hahaha. Mark of the year.

If he gets a game for half the season he'll be nominated, but as stated above second year players need to pull the finger out to get a nod.

He played alright, but not nomination-worthy. I'll call it a solid effort but not really standout-ish.

 It was by far his best game in the hoops so far (strong leads, crashing packs, snapped a great goal, did some good things at ground level) - way better than the game he got nominated for last year IMHO. Doesn't mean he'll get nominated but I'm getting excited...

Don't get me wrong, I thought he was pretty good, but his game was not high-impact. He showed some very good signs but I still don't see it as being beyond solid.

Perhaps my expectations are too high already ;)

very unlikely.

very unlikely.

Some of us are guilty of getting a little ahead of ourselves. Solid game from Tom but not really worthy of a rising star nomination.

Geary?

you would think he is no chance for rising star this week, but so far he leads the pack

He was solid but far from nomination worthy.

Is Leuenberger still eligible? He did some nice things tonight against West Coast.

Paul Stewart from Port had a reasonable game on debut as did Nathan Brown from Collingwood.

And Rioli and Morten debut tomorrow in the Hawks V Demons game and some big things are expected of those two guys.

Sorry to be a downer on this one. ;)

thought young Rioli for Hawthorn could be round 1 nominee. He is an excellent young player. Take note Travis

there is no way he can get a nomination whilst Byrnes is in the side, its just stupid (like byrnes) to think otherwise.

Same, Rioli did some impressive work. It won't be Tomahawk, despite him playing well.

Need's to get selfish and kick a few.

Bachar Houli if he's eligible
Yes Bachar got the nomination today , well deserved. he had worked real hard over the pre season and continued it on Monday, good on him .
He will likely not get a kick next Sunday but.

Lots of cheap, ineffective possessions would be nice.
