Round 1 North Melbourne v Essendon

Game Rating : 6.5/10

Comments : Like many of North's players today, he seemed to get lost in the middle a bit. Still showed some terrific spirit and fight as he busted a few packs to emerge with the ball. His disposal wasn't bad, but it wasn't fantastic either. On a day when most of the team looked lost on the ground, Swallow stood arm-in-arm with his compadres and refused to ask for directions.

Round 2 North Melbourne v Richmond

Game Rating : 7.5/10

Comments : Worked his ass off all day and got a good share of the pill. Was busy at almost every stoppage, either by directly getting a clearance, or laying a tackle on the opposition. 16 touches, 8 tackles. A good day out for Spitta.

Is this a linear scale, where 5 is average, 10 is outstanding and 0 is terrible?

If so, he deserved to be closer to 0 than to 10 in Round 1. Eight clangers says it all.

Servicable = 6 for mine if that's any guide Chadwiko. Shagga was servicable in R1 and I gave him 7.5 in Wk2. But failed to get into my 3-2-1 voting for R2.

DJ has a point here. Your such an easy marker Chadwiko. Maybe too bias for Swallow's own good.

My round 1 score was based off of watching the game on TV live, and he didn't have a great day, but at the same time he never dropped his head or stopped trying. He got his share of clearances and contributed to the team a lot more than a lot of other players that day.

What's going on with Swallow, did he do much in the VFL last week?

Any suggestions as to why Swallow has dropped off so much in 08 or has the standard just lifted around him?

Bit of both I think. His decision making was shocking, I'd say it's just a confidence thing.

I agree and he has appeared a lot slower both in movement and his decision making too

Where has he been all year? Thought he was very promising in '07.

Everyone saying harris has had a shit year this bloke not playing is why, last year they combined beautifully of the bench, so once a hard player came of another one came on.

Any recent news on Swallow? Was a big fan of his work last year, but he has done nothing in 08.

Is he injured? Or just badly out of form?

He was badly out of form at the start of the year and after 3 rounds was dropped to the VFL. By all reports he was on the verge of re-selection a few weeks later and then had a minor ankle injury.

At the moment he's playing VFL for North Ballarat and by all accounts he's doing OK but not quite well enough to force his way into a winning side. Barring a couple of injury's he probably won't play for North again this year, but he does seem to be well regarded still and I doubt he'd be traded or de-listed at the end of the season.
