I want to see a more open forward line with Lloyd getting Franklin like space.
I also believe CJ doesn't have the smarts to operate at CHF.
Surely a McPhee/NLM combo would give defenders more food for thought than a lumbering CJ.
Thoughts?

I expect CJ will play down back if he comes in, freeing someone like Ryder up.

I second that plea!!!!!
He doesn't have the smarts to play anywhere.

Yes, definitely bring in Neagle.

Don't bring in Neagle either.
Let him play some games at VFL level before we rush him in.

I agree.. I watched CJ play down back against WCE in the pre-season and he did a good job on the Lynch. I would like to see Paddy go forward or even in the ruck at times this year. (when match-ups don't suit or can be exploited)

If I got to tell Knights one thing in my life it would be for him to never play Courtney Johns up forward. He'll be gone by the end of the year if he doesnt show anything down back. There is no room for him in the team and only if somebody like Michael got injured would I behappy for Johns to enter the seniors. We'll trade him at the end of the year for a 2nd round pick;)

Out of all the players on our list, these players are who I think could replace Lucas:
Courtney Johns
Jay Neagle
Scott Gumbleton 3 -weeks
Andrew Lee
Tayte Pears
Darcy Daniher - 2 weeks
Gumbleton would have been the obvious replacement if he wasn't injured. Daniher and Pears have decent size for their age but wouldn't be any good against Geelong. Andrew Lee, the poor guy, just isn't good enough. That leaves Neagle and Johns. Neagle is coming off a knock to the ankle and has more flair and raw ability than Johns but probably doesn't have enough (preseason) gametime. Johns, if fit, is strong as an ox and could possibly free up Ryder to play forward. He is the best option to come in against the Cats.
So all those who are opposed to CJ coming in, there isn't anyone else (that could fill a KP).
I suppose Knights could choose to go smaller and bring in Winderlich or Lovett to really extend our depth of pace and hard running.

We don't need to bring in another KP.

Lovett or Atkinson .
Cj too slow for the game plan.
he better not bring johns in.
or i will start to question his sanity.
we dont need to replace lucas with the same type player,a forward would do fine.
and we have plenty of goal kickers, although scotty is stellar.
we could bring lovett or monfries in.
hopefully winderlich if he is fit enough.
but not courtney fricken johns!

I dont think we need KP to cover the loss of scottie at the dome. They will bring in running players for the Geelong game thats the only way we can have a chance of beating them. Geelong is a slow side and run is wat we need to do to get over line in this game. The only time they need too cover the Scottie loss is at the bigger gounds like the MCG and others. So bring in Lovett and Hocking or blood players like D Myers in this game wat have got to lose.
CJ will get the call up. Especially at the Dome.
johns is a gun

whether his good enough or not he will come in. neagle and gumbleton are both still injured and there isnt anyone else. if he doesnt show anything this year his gone, this could be his chance.

with lucas gone, lloyd doesnt look like he'll have even enough space to breath.

Bringing in a slow lumbering player like Johns against an attacking, running defence like the Cats would be insane. More mobile player like McPhee/NLM will do for me.
As for Johns ever being a defender, god help us all!!! He can't defend as a forward, what chance as a defender. Opposition will just put someone smaller and faster on him.
Barring a huge number of injuries, I just don't think there's a place for him.
Promote Atkinson, let Laycock and Ryder take on ruck duties, Hille to play CHF and ruck in the forward line.

Atkinson is a gun, he will be a highlight this season. Preferable down back in place of slattery

agreed. Neagle needs at least 3-4 weeks of injury free footy in vfl before he hits the afl.

Knights was on SEN this morning. Said that he wants to continue to develop CJ into a key position backman.
Anyone of Welsh, Licker Gumby, Neagle or Lovett can fill the void left by Lucas. Gumby is still 2-4 weeks away, Neagle 1-2 weeks.
Lovett will mostly be the inclusion this week.

That's good to hear. It means we will either bring in a runner or use CJ on Hawkins and then throw Ryder forward.

Johns needs to go. I hope he doesn't play for Essendon unless he kicks like 10 goals in a VFL match. Even then I'd still have my doubts.

I like the prospect of CJ on Hawkins over Ryder v hawkins.
Matchups
Lloyd - scarlett
Hille - harley
Ryder - ??Mackie/Milburn
Mooney - Mal Michael
Hawkins - Johns
Fletcher - loose man

Considering we don't have much chance against Geelong, trialing Ryder at CHF is not the worst idea I have heard. CJ at CHB.

I'd put Mal on Hawkins and the Dustbin on Mooney.
Mooney on the lead might be a little sharp for Mal, Ryder can roam and fill the hole.
Scarlett - Lloyd
Harley - NLM?
Milburn - McPhee
Stokes is one player that we will have to watch. Maybe Henry??

CJ (Looks like Tarzan, Plays like Jane) is a bad choice. Has done nothing over the last 3 years apart from spending all his time in the Gym.
We looked much better with McPhee lurking and not having 2 focal points in the forward line. This upset Norths Back structure.
