View Full Version : Hyde and Polo in

RECORDS!

According to afl.com Hyde and Polo are in with Tiv, Edwards and Morton the emergencies. Roos still haven't finalised their side. Would have preferred Polo and Edwards but I suppose it is good that they are rewarding good form (Hyde)

Would like to see Morton in but I reckon it's good they're making it tough for him to win a place and not just a walk up into the side.

I'd still prefer Tivs than Hyde, and I'd prefer Edwards or Morton over both of them.

haven't been the biggest Hyde advocate ever but if he's in the team he's got my support. We haven't seen him play this year and his best is very handy.

Hansen in for the kangas is the only change. I think Watt makes way. Happy with Polo in for us, Foley and Tuck could do with a hand at the centre clearances. Hyde's style might just suit against North's generally one-paced (Harris, Simpson etc) midfield, obviously Harvey is the exception.

Apparently S. Thompson was dropped instead of Watt.

There's not an obvious spot for MM right now, with Petts and Brown occupying the flanks he'll need to demonstarte another string to his bow to be included alongside those two:thumbsu:

Still a better bench player than Hyde.
Rapt Polo's in though.

why is everyone hard oh hydey for. he loves taking them on with run and carry and as i have said before, before he got knocked out and cracked his skull was one of our best players at the time. i also heard pre season, he was the one to stand up in front of everyone and emphasise the point to all that he was sick of us being shite and put it on all the senior blokes about being more club orientated and not about themselves. apparantly mood changed for the better from that day on. Give him ago, he loves the jumper and the club!!!

NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.........when will they get with the program...FFS....his man will go close to BOG...i can betg my bottom dollar that Hyde would not get into the top 30 votes in the game. Irrelevant to the max...give it up TW..you continue to have faith...to a player that Spud gave the nod to because he trains and and does the done things on the training track.. you muppet. ;)

Cogs mate, l agree with you, Hyde is not my choice to be included in the side. But l dont want players getting cheap games when they dont deserve it.

I'd rather the match committee go in with a bloke that l'm not overly rapt in, rather than continue with blokes like Gasper, Tivvo, etc who have in the past just got games. I want Morton, Edwards, Tivvo, Meyer to start demanding games.

Hyde has had a good preseason and a reasonable good game last week.

i rest my case...like i said the same shit is spruiked about Hyde and time after time the same irrelevance comes to the fore...time to smarten up tigers..he has zero influence on a game. Will most likely have a baulk that makes all the muppets tounges wag, but his direct opponent just tears us a new one time and time again.

TW needs to show faith in talent not in arse licking FFS. If you had limited talent what would you do in the pre season? Yep you would make sure you stood out from those who know they have more than what you have. Start getting smart TW. ;)

If we have players relying on talent and not putting in during the preseason they don't deserve a game. Its the players that do the hard work and stand out that deserve a spot in the side, not the out of form players who may have more talent

Exactly,if my memory is correct? guys like tiv were always getting games because they were more skilled, ahead of players like brett(carn't think of his surname at the moment)BIRDMAN,who was a real goer tough as nails, took pack marks and did the 1%ers just like Kingy does today:confused:.

The VFL is full of "Birdman Evans's". The reason most don't get many games at senior level is that they simply aren't good enough. Being hard, tough etc etc is only a part of the package. Regardless of what some people think, only a handful of AFL players are actual squibs. Better skill levels will almost always get you further at this level than heightened toughness. You actually have to have quite serious talent to make it and if you get a gem that has the extra ability AND the extra hardness then you're on a winner - but most teams don't have more than a couple.

That would see us having a bucket load of run from Lids, Tambo, Foley, backed up by having Tuck, Polo getting them the ball. Would make us very dangerous.

Hey smokey,no one is saying that you don't need skills to play AFL? We all know that, thats why i'm not playing.what i'm saying is whats the use of being BOG at training with your beutiful skills, though cannot preduce the same thing matchdays!...P.S. players that are drafted all have skills,i know some more than others, but Hard men are still required.

Yeah, no problems with that. You are dead right but I just think that many times people place too much emphasis on being hard and tough. One of the reasons most players make it to that level is because they are harder and tougher than those in the levels below them - that's one of the things that makes them standout. A couple of King's in your team are great (and even essential) but 22 of them will never win a flag. It's all about balance and structure.

Yes smokey,100% right about 22 kingy's wont win us a flag and totally agree with the balance/stucture thing.I just feel that we've been light on in the tough/hard players department for too long...anyway i guess we both want the same thing,(success at Tigerland):DCheers..

You do understand how selection works right? He kicked 7 after the team was named, he isn't going to back up and play the next day. Your whinging should be directed at whether he is selected next week.

On another note, with our emergencies all playing for Coburg yesterday we better hope we don't need a late change, although players backing up and playing two games in one weekend is not unheard of

The form of the burgers must be a huge positive for the Tiges today, knowing that a three- four players could come into the side next week if some don't put in today is great for the club. Last year anyone that resembled good form at Coburg was rewarded with games, hoping that this year is a different story and competition is fierce, Go Tiges.

Maybe we should re-name this thread Hyde and Polo out after todays effort. You would think they would be busting at the seams to play, or were they a bit scared of the physicality after last weeks dust up with the Blues ?

Lids had no influence on this game until he went into the middle in the 3rd quarter. Morton in and straight to the HFF is a given IMHO. Get Lids on the ball where he was born to play. FFS, I hate losing to a shit-truck team like North. They're gutsy and even but they're going nowhere.
