None that I see apart from Ottens included.. No injuried from the game I dont think?
Rooke to play in VFL? If Hawkins has a poor game against the Dees, could Lonergon come in for him?
Hope they dont bring Otto in for Hawkins and play 3 rucks :(

You'd think it would be Ottens for West, if anything.
Rooke for the VFL again.
Mackie & Otto depending on fitness. Rooke will kill someone in the VFL soon so it might be best to look at bringing him in.
Good luck to the selectors, another tough week at the office!!!

I thought Rooke looked a class above yesterday and ready to come back. Possibly Mackie also as well as the obvious Ottens. God knows who we drop and how we justify it after today though.

Yep he played in the VFL has the last 2 weeks now.

i thought max was one of our better players on this day although we didn't have too many winners. his hardness around the stoppages stood out. He tackled well and competed in the only fashion he knows how. Not too many possessions but he's ready

I think Egan should play. Just sit him in the middle of the ground and we can handball to him and he can handball back.
I miss him. :(
Otto for West if he is fit. Who would Mackie and Rooke replace? Bloody hard decisions to make.

Be Patient, it shouldn't be too much longer, but no reason to rush him back:thumbsu:

Gamble will not get dropped. He's playing well and providing an avenue to goal, and Thompson has been quite happy with him. He also gave praise to Taylor at his press conference today, And in an interview with Stokes post-game on MMM, it was said that at this point in the season they're not too worried about rushing Ottens back in, and that they're quite happy to see West get some game time. Take from that what you want. Don't think we'll need Ottens until West Coast/Fremantle anyway. Certainly would back Blake/West against White/Jamar anyway.
Ignoring the obvious change, H could go for Mackie simply because Melbourne won't be stretching up front in the matchup department. Against the saints/hawks i think we definitely need 3 pure key talls and without Egan it has to be H.
I am flabbergasted at the prospect of Rooke not being in our senior side if he is fully fit, but it seems the only guy he would come in for is Gamble and i love his medium/tall leading marking forward game. Plus he is a mark of the year in waiting.
Rooke still doesn't look fully fit in my opinion. He looked great in patches but only played a half. I'd like to see him play 4 quarters in the 2's before stepping up given his injury history.
I think it would be a mistake to drop gamble. He is playing well and needs to get some senior experience. There is a good chance we will need him in the finals and I'd rather him get some exposure to AFL playing against Melbourne.
If it were me I would change the following:
Otten's in for West
Prismall in for Byrnes
Ablett to rest in Byrnes' role
Kelly to play more in the middle
Prismall to play Kelly's usual role
Not that Byrnes did anything wrong but I want to see Prismall get some game time.

It's a bit early to get too excited, but it does look like one of Bombers biggest problems is to manage the playing list. I just can't recall us having such quality depth. On past form he'll only give the new guys limited game time over the year. But I certainly agree that this isn't a game that he needs to rush Otto back for, so give him an extra week if he needs it.
Planning the line up for StKilda will be more of a challenge. That's shaping as a big game.

Guys one week at a time.
Lets plan to put the best team on the park evevry week - not be saving talent for the game the week after.
That reeks of arrogance and will lead to us being undone.
Im sure the selectors and thommo now what they are doing.
PLUS - if Ottens is ready he will need the game this wekeend to get back his touch, or he might be flat against the Saints. Who i thought were really insipid against Carlton, but lucky that they are rubbish so won by stacks..........If Ottens and Mackie are ready, they play.

Fair call. I tnink I'll trust Bombers judgement, he seems to know a bit more than me!!!

The Cats are playing Melbourne - I don't know why you'd drop any of Gamble, Taylor or West. Surely Ottens and Rooke won't be missed too much and I think you really need to play the youngsters. In terms of fitness, it would be better to play a Rooke or Ottens in the reserves just to get them a bit more fitness and have them fresh and firing for St Kilda the next week.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if a player (possibly a midfielder) or an older player like Milburn gets rested due to "injury" - just to give a youngster a crack, make sure the list is in excellent physcial condition and and the team is 110% ready for St Kilda. I think Geelong would want to make a fairly heavy impact on St Kilda R4 to really dampen their confidence if they keep going doing okay.

I'd agree except I think Ottens was fit to play this week and it's a bit rich to keep him out another week if he is fit.
I do think though that against teams like Melbourne getting some experience into younger players is well worth the risk and should be a priority.

mackie is still a few wks away with his quad.
Maybe if otto is fit he can come in for hawkins and jus play ff this wk.
Tom looks out of it and maybe a run in the 2s could be good 4 him?
Taylor looks real good and vegas well.... jus superb.

Makcie out for a few..? Since when?
Anyone suggesting Taylor be dropped after that performance is kidding themselves... i cant believe how good he is! Fancy finding an AA CHB through the rookie draft then landing this beauty!:thumbsu:
Gamble was our most productive forward and his position will not be looked at.
West should retain his spot as i think Ottens will benefit from another weeks rest.
If Rooke and Mackie are fit and ready to come back in then good luck to the selectors as everyone who played deserves to keep their spot... how unlucky for Pris if Rooke can't even make the team!
Hawkins should play every game as he is our future and will learn from every game he plays and hopefully kick a few along the way.

I can't see any changes unless Ottens or Mackie come up 100%. Otherwise, who is not worth playing again based on form?
I'd think Ottens would be ready to go by now, though.
Mackie confirmed on radio that he won't be back until at least the StKilda game.
If there's any change it'll be Ottens in if fit for the unlucky West. Can't see Rooke getting a recall this week.

Agree with the position that if it's not broken, why fix it? All our injured/returning players can afford another run in the magoos. We don't want to sound complacent, but Melbourne are playing terrible footy at the moment and while White will kill Blake around the ground, we simply have too much firepower in the middle and down for it to matter.

I don't know if we'll see any changes to bo honest, unless someone pulls up sore or picks up a niggle during the week.
It was said in today's Sun that Mackie will probably miss another week, and there are doubts over Otto for this week as well. I don't think we need to be rushing them back. Give them another week and get them right for the St Kilda game.
West and Blake did very well yesterday and Melbourne don't have a great ruck duo, so they should be able to handle the duties well enough.
I'd like to see Prismall in for Byrnes, but I can't see that happening either. Prismall doesn't have the speed of Byrnes, but his superior Football brain and disposal will make up for that.
So for me there will be no changes.

if ottens is fit then ottens in, west out. but i wouldnt mind giving him a run in the vfl and giving westy 1 more game for the experience. mackie isnt ready yet, and rooke wasnt the best in the vfl so he can have 1 more week there i reckon. so i'd pretty much say no changes (unless they wanna squeeze prismall in there somewhere. the kid is a freak and if he doesnt get a regular spot by the end of the year, god forbid its a possibitlty that he would ask to be traded)

Ottens will not be ready next week; MAYBE for St Kilda game.
Still we have the ultimate dilemna - where to put Rooke and Mackie. Not forgetting Prisnall, Varcoe and David Johnson. And Egan.
An embarrassment of riches - these guys would walk into just about any team

i dont think otto will b right to come back for another couple of weeks anyway, but i dont think its even going to hurt us against st.kilda. they were terrible against carlton.
rooke did look a class above in the 2s, but he didnt play a full game, i think he needs a full game or 2 before we put him in to the 1s, plus, with his history, i dont know why you would want 2 rush him.
i have always been a bit of a byrnes hater, but he played pretty well yesterday, so it would be pretyt hard to drop him, but you guys are right about pris, we must play him or come the end of the year, he will be gone!
dont know how far away mackie is, but why rush him, let him put his feet up for a couple of weeks!
and how good is this harry taylor bloke?! jesus, why didnt any1 get him b4 us? its scary 2 think that when ego is fit there probably wont be a place 4 him! wells and the recruiting boys have done it again!

No need to play him in the VFL. If he can play, he should just play at senior level. We don't need to rush him back but an experienced player such as Otto doesn't really need time in the VFL.

Would've agreed with you a couple orf years ago but this year and last year are different to any other we've experienced as Geelong supporters; we win the games we are expected to!
No changes I think.
Ottens can let thats ankle heal fully, Mackie can also fully recover.
Rooke can keep gain match fitness and form in the VFL.
Egan, well, we all know his return to full fitness is still a while off.
I honestly don't think we need to make any changes until someones form drops off or someone gets injured.
I can see West get dropped to allow Ottens to come back in next week.
Taylor would have to do something wrong to get dropped too, as would Gamble.
Hawkins doesnt deserve to be dropped, he's producing enough to say he contributed well to a 99 point win.
Seriously, how often would a team make changes after an awesome display like that without injuries??

Prismal in, varcoe in, Byrnes and possibly chapman/johnson out
I hear what your saying Chapman/Johnson OMFG you must be joking?.
I'm not saying play them in the magoos but Bomber did state he wanted to play some youngsters, I don't think it would show disrespect to Melbourne if we rest a couple of stars to play 2 kids that deserve a run (don't think Varcoe's done much in the VFL but I would still like to see him get a game).
We're playing Melbourne guys, no changes to be needed IMO.
People that are saying Gamble and Taylor to be dropped obviously didn't see the game yesterday!? And I hate to say it but Byrnes didn't do too bad.

He mighta got a bit of the footy but if you look at the stat sheet under the column effectivness he was only at 50%.
Now that simply is not good enough!

Agree (although i would smile if byrnes was dropped for varcoe/prissa). If otto is ready let him run around in the Magoos to find some touch.
We can use this to play our younger brigade the likes of West Gamble and Taylor should all get extended game time.
