Wow. Two gifts for the price of one.
Can't argue with that. Take it and run Daniel!

Still think it was not a chargeable offense, but I guess I must be stuck in the 80's.

I'm glad to see Merritt got off.
If it had been the other way around Rocca would have been reported and got two weeks off.
There was enough there for scrutiny but not for a suspension.

Merrett can accept reprimand or risk one week ban and Goodes has been charged; with early plea can accept one week or risk two if challenged (no idea what he did though):thumbsu:

No Dan don't give in to the system. Fight it out till your very last breath. This isn't communist china, we don't charge people unless they're proven guilty. Freedom has it's price and that price is the blood of our young sons and daughters.

I reckon you're probably right.
But record does count for a bit in these situations. Charman would have copped a couple. Merrett's record probably saved him a rest.

Goodes will actually get 1 week even if he fights and loses, so he will definitely be going up to fight it.
Goodes knocked Matt Thomas over but I don't think they ever cited it, because they never replayed the incident (I was watching the game). He was down for ages, and I think Brogan went over to him and called for a stretcher. So it must of been a good hit.
Losing Drummond hurts just as much though IMO.

I would rather him not take a game off, especially a home game, the ones we need to win.

Glad to see Merrett is free to play, but I always feel nervous when a star player is injured/suspended against us - I think that we get a little overconfident as supporters lol

Great news, Goodes always plays well against us.

Bad news for us, but hopefully it acts as a catalyst for his blistering return to form. I'd still rather have him in, though.

This is certainly unexpected news.
I was fairly confident that a reprimand would be offered to Merrett, his record was good before this, and IMO that is why this system was developed. Imagine the angst we would be going through if he had to go to the tribunal tomorrow night only to have the same result.
Never saw the Goodes incident, but I would say that it was a more than fair result:D

Goodes appealing...
Eligibility for the Brownlow these days is a joke with the current suspension system. If your charge takes over 100 points but it's reduced below that because of modifiers, no suspension and no Brownlow (see Kirk last year). If your charge is under 100 points but you have carry-over points or (possibly) a bad record, suspension and still Brownlow eligible. Mmmm that's going to be a fun one to explain come the night.
Surely he can't get off...you just can't throw the arm back...thinking Lynchy a few years back on Fletcher if my memory serves me correctly...i am sure he got a weeks rest.
Did Goodes throw the arm back? It's impossible to tell from the Fox footage I've seen as it is only the arm on the other side of him that can have made contact. And Thomas lands up on the ground a a result of continuing a slide forward, down Goodes' body.

He's not really my type, Tim, but good on you for being upfront about it.
