Has anyone out there had the misfortune of purchasing this absolute piece of shlock?

I got sucked in by a very favourable review and have been appauled by this ill-thought out piece of garbage. The ONLY reason i brought it (apart from the review) was that Dave Grohl plays drums on it. Now as always, his playing is very tasteful and right on the money, but even this cannot save this crap from being listenable.

Perhaps i am missing the point here. I know its essentially a "comedy" p*ss take album, but it just aint funny!! Yeah some of the tunes are mildly clever and the fat dude can shred a bit on the ax, and Jake Black's voice or whatever his name is (i'm at work ATM and dont have the album with me sorry) can hold an OK tune, but the obvious lack of any time and effort that has gone into the lyrical content, not too mention the down right annoying interlude "scetches" which fair dinkum sound like they were made up as they went along make this album an absolute insult to anyone who was dumb enough to fork out their hard earned for it!! Someone obviously hasnt performed their responsibility by saying "No!" to those who came up with the concept of this album.

Greatest band in the world indeed!

Apart from all that, its not too bad really!:D

Seriously, anyone got it? And do you care to explain what i'm missing?

Their new 'Tribute' song isn't too bad, are all the rest crap or something?

Listened to his stuff at work experience today......thought it was quite funny really. Not to be taken seriously.

I'm aware it is certainly not to be taken seriously, but just a little thought put into it might have been advisable.

Had another listen last night and admit some of the tunes are good and the melodies clever. And some of the lyrical content is mildly amusing. But other parts of it are just bad.

I agree with you Carlos.

It's funny the first and (maybe) second time you listen to it, but any more than that, it gets a bit lame.

I think that tribute song has pretty much lost it's originality in my books.

I'm pretty much over it.

It's long been a pattern with novelty acts. One hit and they promptly go away again. Thank **** for that!

buy an album from a comedian and what do you expect

one thing that did impress me when they were talking on the panel is that they copped to adoring lots of 70s and 80s music that most people would find embarressing..journey and styx

i know lots of people would diss them for that but in my book that was respect..

but having said that i wouldnt expect anything to change the world from these guys..just a laugh maybe..and i think theyve done that

and no i aint heard anymore than tribute
