Would be better with Murphy (if he is fit and in form) than Campbell, if you have Warnock at FF we are to tall and slow in the forward line.

Forgot about Campbell, he was crap last week.
Murphy in for him.

The fact he hasn't even been mentioned by Harvey at all this year is probably a good indication that Thornton is at least a couple of weeks away.

I realise he will be sharing the ruck duties with Sandi so he won't need a heap of game time but is Warnock fit enough? We are looking at 0-3 if we lose, is this really a game we want to be carrying someone? If he's fit fine, he's a good inclusion, otherwise i wouldn't take the risk.

Ibbo started to get better as the game went on (as did Palmer and Mayne) so i think he deserves another shot. No value in dropping them after 1 game unless they are a major liability. He will get better with more time/confidence. The senior players should take the responsibility for last week not a second game player.

I also prefer Murphy over Campbell, but again Campbell should get another game. It was only his sixth game, how did our other, more experienced, stay at home forward go last week?

Crowley, Schammer, Peake, M.Carr, Mundy, Mi. Johnson, Tarrant were all very ordinary. One of them should be dropped before any of the young guys.

I'd bring Drum in before Duffield also, but thats just me.

In - Drum, Black
Out - M.Carr, Peake

(I would've dropped Schammer instead of Peake, but he generally steps up for the big games, facing 0-3 makes this a big game)

What exactly has Murphy done in the WAFL to earn a spot?

Butthead Schammer is 2 games back from a season out - he has a bit of leeway. Class is permanent, Form is temporary.

He played 7 games last season, and had a full pre-season this year. People are making far too many excuses for his poor form.

Better.

Black might squeeze Ibbotson out. He'll be hungry after his week off watching the young guys do well.

We could really use Black's foot skills. He is a shoe in.

It's going to be showers Saturday - we need runners not mack trucks...

OUT: Peake (terrible form)
Campbell (mack truck in the wet = no good)
Ibbotson (prefer alternative at this stage)
M.Carr (too slow, no good match up, perfer alternative)

IN: Black (provides run & precision kicking)
Drum (another option down back or forward)
O'Brien (hardness, youth, desperation, great game for Peel lst week)
Webster (better option than MCarr at this stage)

UNLUCKY: Murphy (wet track counts against him)
Warnock (see Murphy)
McManus (prefer alternatives at this stage)
Mark Johnson (see McManus)
Thornton (needs another 2 weeks in Wafl)
Bradley (hell no)

RUCK: Sandilands, Headland, JCarr
FOR: Palmer, Pavlich, Farmer
HFOR: Webster, Tarrant, Mayne
CEN: Schammer, Bell, Mundy
HBCK: Dodd, McPharlin, Johnson
BCK: Hayden, Grover, Drum

BENCH: Gilmore, Black, O'Brien, Crowley

He is a walk up starter this week.

The team has lost two on the trot and he has not been involved bar one quarter or so. One of the main problems is turnovers by foot and he is one of the best kicks in the AFL when on song. Using him to take the kick ins allowing Mundy to be first option, and minimising silly turnovers.

So IMO yes he is a walk up starter, a definate. Put money on it if you can. Black in, Campbell out.

Macca and M Carr are walk up starts for a derby (and derby only). They hate the yellowbacks as much as us. They'll make the most of it too as they know Harvey has lost patience.

Well Frigate, you were right about Campbell out, but not Black in. I totally agree with you regarding Campbell. Sure, he's a big lug with a bit of fire in the belly, but where's the proof he can play AFL footy at the elite level? I've seen him play one good game. So he goes out.

I wonder where Black is at with his career. Between disciplinary problems, getting concussed and generally being a bit of an angry ant, he seems to be at the crossroads. He would be one of the first picked in normal circumstances, but he's gone off the boil lately. I wonder if we've perhaps seen the best of Heath Black. I sincerely hope not... :(

What would count against him is his complete lack of form, accountability, hunger and persistence.

Kicked 6 goals and had 13 shots on goal in the last two weeks.

I was surprised to see Blackie in the round 1 team - from what I saw of him in the pre-season he was a fair way off being fully fit, and he was pretty undisciplined in all the games. Didn't he have hip surgery again in the off-season? I think a week or two burning it up in the WAFL should see him back to his best. All things going well (no injuries or suspensions) the fight for a spot in the 22 will really be on in a week or two.

Sorry dom cant go with you there.

He should have kicked that at Moss St. last weekend. Hurt my eyes watching it TBH.

When you have Jimmy and Duff dobbing them from everywhere............... and Murphy went missing.

Perfect weather and ball supply for a lead up forward.

He is not up to AFL at the moment IMO.
Nor is Duffield for that matter.

That's fair enough FD, I thought Murph worked hard last week. His pressure and defensive work was good IMO.

Yeah, I thought him getting selected for round 1 meant he was in the coaches plans, but maybe he is sending a signal to the players that if your WAfL form is good then you will be rewarded. If Black has not been training the house down then maybe it is a bit of a "get your act together or you won't be in the team". Fair enough I say.

Good draw to Liverpool away.
