Welsh to be the late inclusion?
Possibly, Knights said that if he could get through the training session today he would play as he is coming back from injury. Played half a game at Bendigo last week and kicked 5 goals, so I would have thought on form he would be in.

IN: Reimers, Pev, Lovett, Monfries
OUT: NLM, Dempsey, JJ, Slatts

Pretty happy with that, would be happier if Welsh came in late for Pev, only if he's 100% fit though.
Looking forward to seeing Reimers tackle those young, soft Carlton midfielders extra hard Saturday night.

My guess is Pev could be in for a tagging role for Judd Stevo or Murphy, no-one was accountable for Bartell, Ablett, Corey etc last week so IMO it is a good move.

Happy with that.
Out with the slow and in with the quick.
Welsh is a surprise so he's either re-injured himself or he'll come in late for Houli or someone else but I'm not sure you can do that if you haven't been named emergency.

You can, but you get a fine.
Who says he's not an emergency though, I haven't seen them posted anywhere?

Yeah, my uncle's brother in law's sister who is a friend of my friend at Uni's step sister's boyfriend's Mum who knows the guy who is friends with that lady who works at the Windy Hill gym told me that too... must be true...
Happy with that side. We don't really have any strong clearance available at the moment (eg. Hislop, Hocking ect) so we had to have one of JJ or Pev at least and im happy they've gone with Peverill.
Bit disapointed though, would have loved Hislop, Hocking, Gumbleton and Dempsey to all be playing :(
Hopefully they'll all be back on the park very soon.
Suprised Welsh isn't listed, would be nice if he came in for a late change :thumbsu:

We surely need another tall up forward without Welsh, NLM and Lucas

3 Apr 2008, 16:54
I'm pretty happy with that. Although I don't think JJ deserved to get dropped. As another poster suggested he might have made way for Pev so Pev could tag someone. Only time will tell.

3 Apr 2008, 17:03
So we have Lloyd, McPhee and the two ruckman with possibly Ryder going forward as our main targets. Not enough for my liking, we're going to rely heavily on our medium mids/forwards to kick goals (davey, Lovett, Reimers etc.)
With the official emergencies being Johns, JJ, Slattery that means Welsh has been ruled out. Johns may come in if Houli isnt 100%

Ahhh, the good ol' chinese whispers. It actually started out with Houli's got a big ____, but by the time it got to the gym lady it had turned into Houli has a big corky. Happens all the time.

Already i see an air of arrogance creeping into the Bombers and i hope they dont take this game lightly .Dismissing players like Simpson , Judd ( due to injury ) Stevens , Gibbs , Murphy , Waite , Bannister , Russell etc would be footy suicide.
Thornton is another very good player for them .He was their best defender last week .

The tagger has gone to Judd, and with good reason. No-one wants to find out what he could do if you don't sit on him.
Stevens has also copped close attention, but IMO without cause. If you were going to run a second hard tag, on form you'd go with Murphy. His running has gone up a gear in the first two rounds, and the kicking yips that seemed to plague him pre-season appear (fingers crossed) to have gone.
You guys look a little under strength, but as with us, young sides can be unpredictable.
Good luck Saturday. May you lose by 1 point with no injuries or reports.:thumbsu:
Pev will surely go to Judd, he's played on him before and done reasonably. He won't be as exposed for pace this time either.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Monfries go to Stevens either.

Pev's always good for the Bombers. Can cover a player and pick up heaps of stats. :thumbsu:

Probably, but I'd tag Murph and run someone head to head with Stevo ATM.

My Grandma could've been their best defender. Thornton, O'hAilpin, Bower, Bentick, Saddington and Pfeifer aren't too flash.

Wow, you must have been playing close attention.
Bentick and Saddington played with the Bullants, and Pfeiffer is a midfielder........kicked a nice goal and for a kid in his FIRST GAME looked o.k.
Thornton SMASHED Kosi.
Could your Grandmother have beaten Kosi?

Yeah, and there's "an air of arrogance" here...
i lke the fact pev's in the team this week, every good team always needs a tagger, especially if judd, or stevens decide to hit form against us..with pev there, we dont have to waste mcveighs ball getting ability by using him to stop one of their midfileders..
but im still worried how where going to kick 15+ goals though. Lloyd aint like he used to be, and jamieson coming back wont help. If where going to rely on mcphee or ryder floating forward to kick our goals then where in deep sh.t.
i cant beleive welsh hasnt been named, and for the first time in my life i actually want johns to play..

No Slattery, about friken time Knights! Now keep him at Bendigo. Not too fussed that Pev is back, offers more than JJ and is better in a tagging role than Slatts!
Just wondering, when did Nathan Lovett-Murray do his groin and hoe long is he out for? He's in my DreamTeam.

houli should play, knights has been saying that he will play the players only if they are fit. welsh isnt 100% i guess so he isnt named. and knights is very straight unlike sheeds' great work in the past.

I'm Surprised CJ or Neagle weren't given a chance for this saturday.....
Appart from CJ been on the Emergency list.
NEW and IMPROVED Carlton vs Essendon Matchups (could someone do these matchups on footy magnets plz!!!!)
IN: Pev, Lovett, Reimers, Monfries
OUT: Dempsey, JJ, Slats, NLM
Scotland VS Dyson = If he plays well Scotland will have to to a chasing defencive role.
Thornton VS Lloyd = Blues will wat O'hAilpin further up field, LLoyd is too strong.
Waite VS McPhee = McPhee can isolate Waite as a rebounding player, by playing a lead up role, similar to last week. Waite won't be afraid to come off his man to help his team tho which might be a big mistake against McPhee.
Carrazzo VS Reimers = Davey will provide pressure to the rebounding defenders and the most offensive would be Carrazzo. Can't wait to see Davey's speed too much for such a slow team.
Bower VS Lovett = Lovett will have a great game, Bower is unexperienced and will be Stuffed by the end of the game.
Jamison VS Lonergan = Jamison is a good tackler and although he will spend time on Lloyd/McPhee/Hille/Laycock/Ryder when they play forward he will be well matched against Lonergan.
Judd VS Pev = Pev's lack of speed will not be too evident against a slower Judd, Pev has done well on him in the past.
Gibbs VS Winderlich = Gibbs will have to be flat out for the whole game to keep up with Winders, who will play off the wing.
Simpson VS Houli = Will be the best match-up of the match IMO. Houli in great form and Simpson has great underated skill.
Stevens VS McVeigh = McVeigh will again play a less of a tag because Stevens is a similar player to McVeigh when playing an attacking role. Great Battle, and i would expect McVeigh to be switched to Judd so that pev can use his quick hands and hard running more.
Murphy VS Stanton = Stants is due for a good match, and he could use his hard running skills against Murphy, who not used to someone who will stick to him all day everwhere on the field like stanton does.
Houlihan VS Monfries = Houlihan is hard runner and will playing a very underated opponent, both may go into mid if needed but Houlihan will spend most time on bench or backline :p, i wouldn't be suprised if Monfries kicked 3 or 4.
Cloke VS Ryder = Similar height, but Ryder posseses oo much skill and smarts for Cloke, but will have to avoid a 1on1 situation, like he did with mooney. Cloke is much stronger than ryder. Cloke might also swith will Kreuzer and Ryder has him well beaten.
Fisher VS Reimers = Will be a big task for Reimers, both players can take great marks and read the play well. Reimers is a great spirited player who reminds me of Glenn Archer. Could be nom for Rising Star if he can shut down Fisher.
Betts VS Nash = Great Contest, both hardworkers, Nash will have to play well on an in form Betts.
Fevola VS Mal = Fev will be well covered Mal, Fletch, Ryder and Lee all could be rotating opponents.
Russell VS Ramauskas = Ramanauskas, will play on a young kid like Edwards, so that he can still provide run of backline.
O'hAilpin VS Fletcher = Both tall, both agile, both versitile and can play nearly anywhere on field. Another great contest.
Hampson VS Hille = Hampson has experience down back and will be good contest for Hille when he goes forward. Hille is much stronger and agile tho.
Kreuzer VS Laycock = Laycock will spend time forward and he is a good mark which will test Kreuzer. Kreuzer will tho run a lot also testing Laycock.
Bannister VS Watson = No real need for Bannister in this team, Watson will run him off his feet and will have to be rotated with maybe McVeigh.
Hadley VS Jetta = A hard battle for both players, Jetta has too much pace for Hadley, but Hadley and too much tank for Jetta, will be interesting to watch.

I like your enthusiam but you either overate us or underate them Fev tore us apart last time how can u say we have him well covered. You ahve named reimers against both of them will beat him. Simpson is a very good player as is Carrazzo
Dont take this the wrong way I reckon we will win but lets get serious if your doing matchups

NEW and IMPROVED Carlton vs Essendon Matchups (could someone do these matchups on footy magnets plz!!!!)
Ummm......O'hAilpin not playing (omitted) so keeps in line with your post above.
Secondly, you seem to have every matchup as an Essendon win.
Sounds just a little delusional given that several of our players beaty their St Kilda opponent last week.
Watson too much run for Bannister? Bannister just ran with Deledio and Dal Santo and beat both of them quite comfortably.
I don't think he will lose sleep over Jobe.;)
If you play Reimers on Fisher, fisher will take about 10 marks in the goal square and we will inflict your second "near 100" point loss in as many weeks.
He may be a tough player, and have some run, and quite frankly I like Reimers, but Fisher is not his match up.

3 Apr 2008, 20:56
Jamison will get Loyd. Mark it down.
Waite will play on McPhee and Thornton on the next best tall/medium forward.
In terms of essendon I can see Mal getting Fev. Ryder on Fisher and Fletcher on which ever one of our 3 rucks is forward (probably gonna be kreuzer the most)
If we play like we did in the first quarter against Geelong we should get off to a handy lead.
I'm watching the match again now, and frankly we were very good. If Laycock was having a better day he could have kicked three or four, and we could have had another 2 or 3 from others. We could improve the intensity of our attack on the ball and tackling then we'll do well.
Admittedly we were worse after that, but I'm heartened by just how good we were in that first 20 mins, much better than people have suggested given the end result.

Mcveigh vs Gibbs... Let the bloodshed begin:D
Glad Pev is back in the squad, should of been back last week maybe then atleast one of Ablett and Bartel would of been kept under 30 touches. From memory Pev dominated Judd last year kept him to low 20 touches (alot innefective) and grabbed 30 himself. That was before Judd's groin took hold and when he had quality mids and the comps best ruck helping him.
We really need Johns. Lloyd and McPhee won't score again this week if Thornton is going to be 3rd man in on every contest, we need another tall to man him up.
