Absolutely brilliant movie. Will Ferrel's best performance since Anchorman.
Humour is sometimes blatent and in your face, while other times being subtle. A must watch for Will Ferrel fans, and even those who aren't. Some people might disagree but I think I may even like it more then Anchorman.
Anyone else seen it? Thoughts?

I might be in the minority here, but i'd rather stick needles into my eyes whilst chewing on some barbed wire than watch a will farrell movie. What's his appeal exactly?

ummm, Hes funny. Anchorman was one of the best comedies in years.

Loved it. I can't understand why it bombed in the US.. This was easily better than Blades of Glory and that made shitloads of money.
Oh well...
Looks like shit to me, one thing I don't get is why Will Ferrel keeps doing sports movies when he is really unfit, he isn't a sportsman so stop doing these cliche' sports movies!
I liked Blades Of Glory and of course Anchorman was good, but Semi-Pro just looks like one of these typical cliche sports movies, that actually looks more unfunny than any other.
If you want to see a really good Will Ferrel movie then check out Stranger Than Fiction, no crappy stunts, no stupid random shit, just good comedy with some drama on the side.

That IS the exact reason he does them! These movies are not to be taken too seriously. They are just fun, not meant to be masterpieces.

all his movies are the same. put him a random role and make him act stupid. wow big deal, same shit every ____ing movie.
I think he is funny, but i think he is pushing it with all of these movies with a central theme (loser / pack of losers - turn winner / winners).
I loved him in A night at the Roxbury, Anchorman, Old School and his 'cameos' in other movies such as Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, Austin Powers movies, Wedding Crashers etc. But the key reason why i loved the movies were not soley because of him, i liked those movies because of the large ensemble of characters.
I didn't like Talladega Nights - it had 1-2 funny bits, but overall i thought it sucked.

I wasn't a fan at all of Taladega Nights or Blades of Glory, didn't find them funny at all, especially Blades Of Glory. Though this is absolutely brilliant.

You can only make the fat joke funny a couple of times, it doesn't work in EVERY single movie!

Don't know about that. Hardly a comedy. The only really funny scene I recall is when the wrecking ball crew demolish his apartment. Otherwise I saw it as a great drama/thriller. Excellent movie, discussed more here:

I thought there were more than just 1 bit of funniness in it, alot of the voice overs provide good light hearted moments, although towards the end it does get a lot more serious.

meh ferrel isnt to bad really.
Much much much better than ben stiller
And ferrel couldnt be that unfit, has run a variety of marathons and you cant generally get away with a lack of fitness in them

I was really looking forward to this movie, thought anchorman was funny, but his other recent movies were average. The same has to be said about this, I was really disappointed in this some funny stuff but overall I wanted my money back.
