Actually it was our backs coach, Darren Crocker #49, when he had his own hair.. the beehive.. :D... who soccered thru for North's 4th.. after the marking contest with Jonas (#45) knocking it down from Hodgeman's (#17) free.

My old Mum always used to say "That Peter Landy,... such a nice looking man".
Magnificent spoil by the nauseating number 28 on the champion no. 27.
Ball on a string for his whole career our Keef..:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Here's an old beauty (after a lacklustre beginning) , with one legendary Ron Casey (RIP.)
A good chuckle was had by yours truly watching this.

.....Arnold Briedis planted the first seeds of what I'm sure would have been a very promising acting career.

Although I was terribly unwell at the time, listening to this game on the radio, sure helped me feel alot more better.

Ahhhh, back in the day, thanks Groggy.:thumbsu:
Sundays in Melbourne back in the early seventies.:thumbsu:
Watch the woodchop, handball, repacharge and the panel on WOS, Then over to channel 9 for the wrestling with Jack Little, Mum would serve up the roast and we'd switch over to channel ten to watch Phillip Gibbs call the VFA and settle in to watch Port and Dandy puch the shit out of each other whilst Frosty Miller and Freddie Cook kicked bagfuls of goals.:thumbsu:
I'd kill for one of mums roasts right now.

Almost the same at mine except some of us older posters would have been old enough to be stretched out on the couch suffering from the night before. Sometimes a roast would be whipped up somehow, but more than likely fellow party animals would roll up with fish and chips, the odd hamburger and supe large bottle of Coke, still in their PJ's, dressing gowns and in West Footscray back then, moccies!!!
The VFA then had the best fights.

Prahran vs Preston, 1978 Grand Final. I have vague memories of Sam Kekovich taking on half of the Preston team in the goalsquare. He did okay the big Slammer.

There was a VFA GF at the Junction Oval between Port and Dandenong where the word was out that if star PM full forward Fred Cook got king hit every Port player was to turn to his nearest Dandenong opponent and go bang. Fred was felled before the game began and mayhem ensued. Paddy Flaherty from Dande was, IIRC, KO'd.
Packed house, warm day, atmosphere electric. I can't even remember who won. It was almost irrelevant.
The drink of choice in the crowd was full strength beer drunk from a 26oz bottle, usually accompanied by a few Marlboro Reds.
