"Brent Staker's mum has come out swinging calling for Barry Hall to be banned for the rest of the season and will recommend their son also take legal action for what they described as a "cheap king hit".

Rosemary Staker last night desribed Hall as 'despicable' after the former boxer Ko'd her 23 year-old-son with a thunderous left hook behind the play less than 24 minutes into the match at ANZ Stadium which the Swans won by 64 points. "

'Thats just a brief snippet, Rosemary goes onto to say 'I'd like to see him rubbed out for the rest of the season because I think that is what it deserves.'

If big, bad, bustling Barry Hall is so tough, why does he have to do it behind play when he thinks no one is watching. If hes going to do that sort of thing, why doesnt he do it up front and be a man about it, if there's such a thing as being a man about it.'

Going on to say;

'He's supposed to be out there playing football, not out there using cheap shots on young lads and taking him out when he's not even looking.'

Pretty damning stuff and good on Rosemary for sticking up for her son, the article also reveals Brent's father received a payment for having his jaw broken whilst at work, apparently Rosemary believes Brent was at work and deserves compo.

Things could get interesting.

Things could get interesting.

no they wont

hall will pay for his indiscretion through the punitive procedures of the sport he and staks are involved in. and so he should.

there is a reason why player's mums dont have anything to do with the game: because "fair and even handed" is not their forte when talking about their sons

My mum's hated Hall since the 2005 finals incident, she wants his sentence to be served after his wrist has recovered. :p

Good on Staker's mum though, someone has to stick up for him.

Why do journos get quotes from mums?
Because they are lazy.

Really, I can't ever think of a situation where it was a good idea for players' family members to end up in the media.

Still, on the bright side, at least she isn't singing.

hahah if only that will happen.
Dad has a theory that because Sydney is the AFL's love child they will work out how long he will miss due to injury and give him the same time, so that he will be back once his risk is recovered.

Why do journos get quotes from mums?
Because they're usually very emotional and sensationalist and it makes good reading, although not very balanced.:D

Good on her, maybe it will counteract the Hall/Roos "Barrysverysorryheisad1ckheadbutdoesntdeservemorethanittakesh iswristtoheal" press conference yesterday.

Nothing good will come of this.

There is no need to call players' mums, nor is there any need to comment as a mum if you are called.

halls an easy one for mums to hate i feel. unlike ben cousins when in trouble, all the mums come out with 'ah boys will be boys, give him another chance'.

dog act by hall though, 6-10 from me. i'd be happy if he got a year for bringing the game into disrepute.

The Dal Santo's are still waiting for Dal's Brownlow to arrive as well.

We should have Hall's mum v Staker's mum.
