Matthew Richardson vs Brendon Fevola vs Anthony Rocca vs Nathan Thompson

who is the best(not based on 4 rounds of footy so far)?

Stupid poll. Fevola has about 10 million times the talent of the other three.

Talent at being a moron maybe....why you'd have a crack at that smashed face lara bingle when your missus looks like fev's does is beyond me.

Richo....easily!

Your joking?

Fev is good at kicking goals and leading to the 50 metre line, but other than that what can he do?

Richo has the engine to run all day, gives 100% every game, bleeds for the club, not too mention he has kicked 750+ goals in a very average side, not only that but he will most likely start playing as a Wingman/KP Forward.

I know Roccas big n all, but thats a bit harsh on him :p

...hmm, funny

Richo...easily from Fev...easily from Rocca a fair bit ahead of Thompson imo.

Richo has a brilliant record, a lot better than all the others. For the last few years Fev has been really good, but Richo has had better years as well as performing for well over 12 years now!

Richo has had the more productive career.

How old is he btw?

Richardson
If Richardson could kick he would be every bit as good as Wayne Carey. Consider this...

Wayne Carey nearly always played in a top side who delivered the ball just how he liked it and got it in there a lot.

Richo has nearly always played in a crap side who delivered it like S@#t and just didn't get it into him that much anyway.

Considering richo's career was almost over a few years ago with injuries and a troubled hammy and he is playing with the reigning wooden spooners he is currently doing damn well.

Rocca
Kicks a bag every 5 weeks or so, then nothing for another 5. Just enough to make him look good n hold his spot. Very slow, useless at ground level, never crashed a pack in his life and doesn't put his body on the line. For a big strong bloke isnt very physical and doesn't do 1%ers. Shouldn't be in this poll with these other names.

Thompson
Much the same as Rocca, slow, no good at ground level, seems to dissapear but has moments of effictiveness. A bit harder than Rocca. Lacks the class of a franklin/fevola/brown/lloyd.

Fevola
Started the year out of form but has hit his straps, has all the skill you could want of a big forward and has learnt to be a hard worker/chaser/tackler. has managed to kick plenty of goals in a very weak side which is a great effort, if the blues prove to be a good side we might finally get to see what he can do. If he stays out of trouble he'll be an All Australian full forward and maby a coleman medalist.

Fevola and Ricardson are champion players, the other two are not.

Amazing that even Carlton supporters are biased enough to vote for Fev, and there is obviously a few of them, because every non Carlton poster with a memory of footy prior to 2005 will vote for Richo, has been a champ for well over a decade.

Richo is 33.

Even if Fev continues his form for the next few years, or until he reaches that age, he'll most likely be under Richo's current goal tally.

Poor start to his career has cost him... Fevola really didn't blossom until 2003.

Will Fev be able to play another 6 years, barring off field incidents?

Yes, he could. Why not?

FF isn't exactly the most physically demanding position on the ground. He will need to retain the speed off the mark though to make good leads, and keep his kicking boots on.

I'd say injuries are going to be a bigger factor.

Richo is as underrated as they come.

Hugely impressive numbers despite copping the ACL early on and being lumbered with a team and coaching staff full of hacks for the bulk of his career.

Richardson has lost more games for his club than any of the other players.

I have seen Rocca turn it on against Carlton too many times to not pick him.

Fev is good but he needs to kick more than 70 a year for the next 3 years.

Thompson is shit.

If the question is who is the better player and not who has had the better career, then i can quite comfortably give Fev the nod. Thommo and Rocca aren't even in the same class, and for me Richardson is one letdown after another. Fev wins because he can kick.

You are a moron. Rocca is a far better contested mark than Fevola, and crashing packs taking contested marks is one of his stronger points. You might want to check who was the best contested mark in the league last year before you talk shit.

His down sides are stamina and overall speed around the ground. He's put a couple of players out with injury for a long while due to using his body to hit contests, Robert Murphy being the most recent casualty. Physicality is not a Rocca weakness, it's getting off his fat arse and running to one that is the problem. If the ball is in his area though he can put on a king hit as good as any of the big gorillas in the league (a fair body on body king hit, not a Barry Hall king hit).

I'd say there's more contested marks taken by Rocca in this short highlights video than Fevola has taken in his whole career: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNxo2_TWTcM

Thompson is better as he is accurate and can kick many goals a game.
I would choose Richardson second as he collect heaps of possessions however his accuracy is questionable.
Fevola third as he only plays good every now and then.
Rocca fourth as he is not that accurate and doesn't play good that often.

Because Richo is a CHF, not a FF like Fevola, sure for Fev and Carlton it is good for them to have someone sit inside the 50 for the whole game, but because Richo has a huge engine and frankly we need it, Richo goes up the ground, gets many contested marks, saves goals, drives it into 50 etc.

lol. rocca is inconsistent and rarely kicks a bag - not worthy of comparison to richo or fev. rocca is a better contested mark cause fev leads so well he never needs to take them.

Ask yourself this, who would you want taking a shot after the siren to win you a game or even a final, Richardson (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZhmrhpNLEc) or Fevola (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZKcqWmtsvI)?

Now answer the question who is the better forward.

Bombers won't vote for Fevola because he tore them a new one when they were leading by 48 points.

Richo can't and doesn't kick goals like these two - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaKPnHVimHQ

Freak.

Fev (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xKqgN1gcEM) has better touch than Richo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOZ5jFY_Fhs). :p :D

Rocca is a dud.

Then ask yourself who you'd rather have playing in that particular final.

Fevola who sits in the goalsquare, and may or may not have a day out.

Richo who can start at Centre Half Forward, play on the ball, get 30+ possesions and kick goals.

Just because your forward is more accurate means nothing, there are plenty of players in Richmond's forward line who can kick goals from the set shot too. Brown and Deledio particularly.

Richo is the one i'd take into the final, in order to get the team to that point in the game when we would have the luxary of kicking at goal after the siren to win the game.

And besides, if it was 50 metres out on an angle, i'd take Richo. :thumbsu:

Richo or Fev to kick a winning goal in a final?

Here you go :thumbsu:

Goal accuracy:

Brendon Fevola - 60%
Matthew Richardson - 59%

So Richo will miss 1 in every 100 shots more than Fevola, hardly the difference Carlton supporters would have you believe.
