Stole this idea from the Essendon board, cheers fellas. But anyways the ones that come to mind:
Players:
David Neitz
Jeff White
Adem Yze
Ben Holland
Brad Miller*
Chris Johnson
James McDonald
Russell Robertson
Isaac Weetra
Paul Wheatley
Matthew Warnock
Jace Bode
Mark Jamar*
Off Field/Coaches:
Paul Williams
Paul Gardner
Any complaints? I don't think they'll all go in one massive heave ho, but I'd imagine a fair chunk of that list will see 2007 as being their last at the club. *They might survive the chop, but by the skin of their teeth

Russell Robertson, McDonald, Isaac Weetra and Paul Wheatley will all mostly likely stay in my Opinion.
Robo just signed a new contract wont have much trade value after this year, Weetra bails just loves him, JMac will never leave the Dees and still have more too give, Wheatley i think is too maligned from Melbourne fans and needs to play further up the feild.. he will stay too!
White will play at least another year too!

There has been whipsers that Jeffery is pulling the pin at the end of this year.
Also I have not seen any redeeming qualities of Weetra that warrants a place on the list

The ones in bold I think will definitely go.
White may chose to retire but I hope we get one more year. Robbo I am not so sure about, he may retire but if he stays on for the extra year it may only be as insurance - same for Junior Mac. Jamar we need to keep (especially if White retires). Miller I would hold onto for another year and Wheatley just perplexes me. We may need him too on the basis that there is more crap to get rid of and more retirees like possible Whelan but if Wheatley was let go it wouldn't be the end of the world.
I will reserve judegement for Bode and Wheetra at the end of the year, to judge them now is pointless.
Gardner has been good for us. Just remember we may not be so hot at the moment on & off field but it certainly puts things into perspective as to how bad we were 4 or 5 years ago off field. Gardner has done some decent work for us and alot of it was hard work not the glory seeking crap that some other presidents have done.
I wouldn't mind seeing the back of Paul Williams but as long as we replace him with someone better. God damn, Todd Viney please come back!!
In any case I reckon 2008 will be a tale of 2 halves. Our run home is good and I reckon it will be mostly kids played in the 2nd half of the season. That may take away alot of our speculation now that is a bit premature.

Jamar is a goner if Meesen shows even the slightest bit of potential before the season is up.

That's 13 players gone there, if they all go at the end of the year. That's a few too many. You would suggest Aussie and Valenti would get a spot on the senior list which leaves 11 spots, 5-6 will go on draft picks, 1-2 on pre-season drafts... which still leaves a minimum of three spare spots. We won't let go that many, especially if Neitz, Yze, Holland, White, McDonald etc. ALL retire. I just can't see it happening, although to be honest I don't think I'd mind seeing them all go!

McDonald, Miller and White would go on you'd think. Miller would be worth next to nothing at the moment you'd think - after we had a chance to flick him at the end of last year he hasn't exactly run riot.

David Neitz - ret.
Jeff White
Adem Yze - ret.
Ben Holland - ret.
Brad Miller
Chris Johnson
James McDonald
Russell Robertson
Isaac Weetra
Paul Wheatley
Matthew Warnock - del.
Jace Bode
Mark Jamar - del/traded back to SA
Weetra/Johnson on thin ice, get back to you in about 12 rounds on them. 6 leaving seems about right. Definite retirements at the end of 09 would then be Robbo, Junior, White (if he doesn't go this year, wouldn't be surprised).

Wouldn't be surprised if we offered up Green or Sylvia as trade bait. Also Garland doesn't belong in the AFL. Will be an almighty send off in round 22. Imagine Neita, Macca, Yze, Robbo, and possibly White being chaired off the ground.
Wouldn't be enough players to carry them off I don't think.

I dont ____ing understand why miller is playing in the AFL this year
he must be very humorous around the club or something like that coz there has to be a reason why he is still at the club
hes a waste of space and should be playing for Sandy
also time to let Jamar go
dont like the look of bode ( i know hes only played afew games)

Who else do we have to play at CHF? Bate and Dunn are too small to hold that position down and Juice is the laziest player running around at the moment. He doesn't even look interested at Sandy. Miller may lack talent but he has a crack and that's all you can ask - untill someone better steps up to take his place.
Jamar is a goner if Meesen shows even the slightest bit of potential before the season is up.
Meesen (like P Johnson) is not a tap ruckman. If White retires then we are mad to delist Jamar unless Jamar has completely lost it. In any case I think Jamar deserves more time to prove himself this year and we are hardly in a position to pick and chose in the ruck stakes. '07 he was injury plagued and '06 he was quite a handy backup for White. The guy is only 25 this year, he could still get back to where he was a few years ago. I am not saying that he definitely will but I think I'll reserve judgement on him until the end of the year.

Player which will definetly go:
Nietz-Retired (obviously getting to old now)
Yze -Retired (finished)
Holland- Retired/Delisted (finished a long time ago)
Jamar - Delisted (Hopeless)
Warnock - Delisted (Hopeless)
C.Johnson - Delisted (Hopeless)
Players which may go:
Bode- Delisted (not going to make it but he may get another yr to prove us wrong being so young)
Weetra- Delisted (same as bode)
Wheatley- Delisted ( This is a toughy but i dont think we can go forward with Wheatley in our side, we wont win a priemership with him, may as well cull him for someone who might develop into a priemership player)
* Miller should also be in this category but i know he as another year left on his contract so he is locked in for 09 as well
* Would love to see Green traded for a top 18 draft pick as well

There is no way we'd ever lose that many in a year.

Can we get rid of this Wheatley talk please?
Theres no chance we're going to get rid of a player who is tall, quick and kicks the ball a mile and the big one, has some experience. No-one ever cuts that many in one year, we'll lose 5 or 6 tops.

i would trade bruce and green 4 picks and anyone else that is over 26 need to go 4 youth

Can't just trade them off for any old picks, need to make sure we'd get something reasonable for them. However I'd only trade one, need to keep at least one of them in my opinion.

We will probably have picks 1,17,18,34,50,66 plus pick 1 in the psd.
This would mean either 6 or 7 players would need to be vacated from our list depending on whether we use pick 66.
Those that i would say will be gone at the end of the season are:
Nietz-Retired
Yze -Retired
Holland- Retired
Warnock - Delisted
C.Johnson - Delisted
That leaves either 1 or 2 more to be delisted. Assuming White does not retire that leaves either Bode or Weetra or both.
NB: It is only round 4 and players can turn their careers around in the remainder of the season.
Players:
David Neitz - retire
Jeff White - play on 1 more year
Adem Yze - retire
Ben Holland - retire
Brad Miller* - play on is serviceable at CHF far from the worst player in the first 4 rounds this year.
Chris Johnson - delist is no good
James McDonald - play on 1 more year
Russell Robertson - play on (singed a 2 year deal last year)
Isaac Weetra - play on, i would rather see garland go.
Paul Wheatley - play on might not win premierships but lets worry about winning games first.
Matthew Warnock - delist, being on list for time and has show little.
Jace Bode - 1 more year.
Mark Jamar* - trade/keep depending on whitey.

Players:
David Neitz - retire
Jeff White - possibly retire
Adem Yze - retire/delist
Ben Holland - retire/delist
Brad Miller - stay but not guaranteed best 22
Chris Johnson - 50/50
James McDonald - possibly retire
Russell Robertson - stay but not guaranteed best 22
Isaac Weetra - 50/50
Paul Wheatley - stay
Matthew Warnock - delist
Jace Bode - 50/50
Mark Jamar - 50/50
Matthew Whelan - possibly retire
Off Field/Coaches: don't know enough about it. Have a hunch that Gardner won't be there much longer though.
The above is what I think will happen not neccesarily what I want to happen.
The 50/50's are pending on how many actually hang up the boots - if its a swathe their careers are saved if not a couple if not all should be cleared out to accomodate new draftees along with the promotions of Wonaeamirri and Valenti to the senior list.
In addition if we wanted to trade one or more players in the interests of team balance I'd say that: Green, Bruce, McLean, Sylvia or Jones would have some value. Not saying we should trade any of them or slurring their ability in MFC colours but saying individually they are the players that would get us any sort of value and the way we're playing no established senior player is indispensible (cept maybe JR#27).
Guys like Carroll, Miller, Wheatley, Moloney (good player but always injured) and now prolly even Robbo would yield no more than a 3rd rounder at best.

Was howled down on this forum by saying the MFC had made a mistake delisting Godfrey.
As least he had a crack - he would have been our best player in the first four rounds!
