Answer me this you Bailey lovers...

What have Neitz or Robertson done in the five rounds so far that have deemed it impossible for Newton to get a spot back?

Bailey has repeatedly stated Round 6 as the moment when he'll start moulding the team he wants, and dropping those who won't cut it. Well by gee, the Junk Time Specialist should be the first to go, anyone have any stats on how goals he's kicked in "real time" so far this year? I'd hazard a guess at 1/2, hes had two bags of three in final quarters.

How many contested marks has he taken in the forward line to kick those goals? Not too many.

As for Neitz, a great servant of the club definitely, but if we're going to have a slow, lumbering forward coming out of the goal square, give me one thats 22, not 32 anyday of the week.

And no-one give me this shit about experience. Yze was dropped, hes got just as much experience as Robertson.

Well, I'm not really fussed by the selection. But I spose you could say 'You don't drop your best players'

That's all I could come up with. It's a flawed argument. You reckon drop Neitz to the magoos?

If Neitz puts in another 5-touch game or Robbo goes "junk-time" again I don't see any other rational choice. Perhaps we must wait until the round 6 "line-in-the-sand" to see some reality.

If they don't kick 3 or 4 each this week or have a significant impact with the Carlton backline as it is then we will have to get tough.

However if they are going to kick a bag, this week will be the week.

If Neitz plays two or three more games where he struggles get a touch, I think being the man he is, he'll pull stumps.

If he doesn't, someone needs to give him the tap on the shoulder.

What's Newton done to earn selection?

Granted he hasn't made the final of It Takes Two, but if we're re-building, what use is it playing 30+ year olds when you have a 20 year old KPP waiting in the wings?

He can be the biggest, most selfish ____ (we need more of them to be honest, too many nice boys) for all I care, he should be playing.

When the midfield regularly misses their foward targets by 20 metres then Neitz and Robbo haven't much chance. While they haven't been playing well, it looks worse when the skills of the rest of the team have been so pathetic. And as to why Newton isn't in, perhaps his training is crap and his attitude poor and Bailey would rather not reward that?

I've had it with the Newton lovers. WTF has he done to merit selection ? Nothing, that's what. He wants to get his head out of his arse, stop living off his mark of the year & start acting like he wants to be a footballer. If not he can piss off back to Whourouly getting up at 5 in the morning to milk bloody cows. He is not having a crack & that shits me.

Maric is the only one I'm dissapointed about not being in. He has kicked a few at Sandy and it is time noe to get the youth in. Bugger rnd 6. The season is virtually over so lets make the changes now.

Robbo and Nieta will not be arounf for our next tilt at a flag so push up players who have earned there spot.

The talk newton is injured and even if he wasn't his form in the twos hasnt't warranted selection. i agree nieta and robbo are out of touch but we dont have much else. and see the post below.

Robbo out for Bate.
Newton has done **** all in the magoos, and they won't drop Neita.

Robbo and Neita have been poor this year but to be fair they have had awful delivery.

Newton is pretty slow, but that isn't his biggest issue. It doesn't matter how slow you are you must make an attempt to chase and follow your defender up the field if they make an attacking move.

Why the hell was Newton dropped for the Bulldogs game anyhow? Simply because we were too tall.

Yeah, Jace Bode made a difference of match saving proportions

Absolutely Nothing!!!

Here's another question,

What have Neitz or Robertson got to do with Newton?

A: Absolutely Nothing

BC you have raised 2 seperate issues and moulded them as one. Hypothetically Newton could play along side Neitz and Robbo and not have to worry about the 2 best defenders. The point is the coach is judging Newton on his form and whether we like it or not, Neitz is the captain and Robbo will still probably be our highest goal kicker this year. I am not sure if Neitz can last the season but if you are seriously suggesting dropping him right now I think that is premature.

Yes we have alot of older players who will probably go at the end of the year and yes I definitely agree we need to start to giving youngsters proper stints to try and start developing future positions. However I prefer a coach who lays down the right guidelines for the future as well and that entales earning your spot. The coach is possibly not satisfied with Newton's form at the minute and is conveying that message. We still have 18 rounds and like you mentioned round 6 could be the round we have major changes. I want to see Juice back asap as well but your point about Robbo and Neitz is irrelevant and if Newton needs to do a bit more for Bailey to pick him then so be it.

Could Bate play the Mark Williams role when we were shit circa 2004?
