What do fans want apart from winning?

Would love to know.

Personally, I want the dee's back.
I want a little more than a pen that doesn't work and a tie
Want to see more players out promoting the club to the younger generation

-to delist weetra, miller,
-Don Argus as president
-loyal supporters with a high membership
-to be a force, as we were

I understand all of them but White, why the hell would you want him to retire? He's required until we can get TWO not one but TWO up and running young ruckman better than him.

Yes, true though he has absolutely no impact on games anymore and i even believe someone like martin or meesen would be a better option along with johnson

I want to see:

* The marketing department create and develop a brand
* Marketing to children who will one day spew hurt when we lose
* A public figure head that we, and every AFL supporter respects
* No more Gardiner spruiking when we "Make a Profit!", when in fact, we don't.
* Gary Lyon to get off his ass.

More then anything, I want to be proud. I want to say I go for the Dees and not get constant shit.

Me too. The posters on here and the other Melbourne boards are willing to criticise constantly but almost never discuss doing anything about it. We might be passionate but we are still apathetic.

The problem is, how do we take take back control OR (more realistically) how do we get involved?

The club desperately needs a mechanism to involve ordinary members and supporters.

* Gary Lyon to get off his ass.

Whilst I agree with everything else you said, I figure I'd highlight this one.

See him on the footy show tonight spruiking western bulldogs memberships, I think he even said he owns one. Any mention of our desperate need for memberships, gaz? Am I missing something? Are they plugging one team a week, or is this just a one off to help a struggling team? If it's the latter I'll be very disappointed.

In all fairness, last week they made mention that they were going to be pumping up the Doggies tires this week. You'd think this would come at the request of the club. Not only that, but they've got players answering calls and whatnot as you probably know. I'm sure if the club decides to promote itself in an interesting manner such as that, they'll get a run on the show. So I don't think it's Garry's fault, moreso the membership management

The Footy Show has pumped up our membership cause in prior years, as they have for other Vic clubs. Same deal - players ready to receive your call, promoting the membership hotline, even had a camera crew so they could cross to the "phone-room" etc. If the club wanted it done again, I'm sure TFS would accommodate them. That's the least of our many worries.

As I've said before, Gary Lyon doesn't give a flying fig about the MFC. Sure he has a bond with some ex team mates, but fundamentally, the has no burning passion for the club. His manufactured persona of Melbourne's favourite son is something he practices well as it it gives his media career gravitas.

Gah, everybody likes a molotov cocktail. It speaks a universal language.

Seriously though, normally when something's deleted it'll at least say so. Are you sure you actually posted it? :o

Simple:

I want grit and determination.

I want a no compromise passion for the club that every player abides by.

I want ferocity.

I want to be able to say every week the blokes had a crack, win or lose.

I want heart.

I want a culture built on strength and never say die attitude.

I want to be proud to say I barrack for the MFC.

Getting Jimmy Stynes involved would be a good thing. Also we need to attract more kids from Auskick level upwards and give them out some MFC merchandise.

Why doesn't the club run a few of it's own Auskick clinics in areas it believe's it will be effective. i.e MFC Auskick with players regularly attending.

Need to work harder with the schools as well.We are trying to convince kids to follow the MFC instead of one of the other 15 clubs. We need to convince them that the MFC gives a Shite about them!

Yep it was there. Hmmm scandalous.

I pledge never to suggest storming the MCC members and throwing firebombs at them again :D

Thats a load a crap if Lyon dosent care about the MFC then why would he and stynes speak to Gardiner a few months back and why would he help the club out last year to select the coach. I think the people that have a go at him saying he hasnt done anything a very wrong we dont know what he does of behind the scenes.

Where did I say he hasn't ever done anything at the club? It's like when he had a specialist coaching role at the club the first year after he retired. His involvement was brief and relatively superficial.

I direct you to my last sentence.

A group of past players including Greg Healy and Anthony Ingerson have agreed to play a backroom role in helping to raise sponsorship dollars for the club, while Lyon had officially signed on as an ambassador for the City of Casey in a bid to push the deal over the line.

This is one of the things I want to see. Past players getting involved with the club that made them who they are. I'm sure they have many contacts; both football and business, and given their profile, we need them to help put the club back on the map.

I want to support a team thats commited to winning.
I want to see a board that's commited to developing a brand.
I want to see more people love the club. Don't just follow them, love the club for what it is.

Yze/Robertson/Neitz/Miller/Holland gone

Sylvia Traded if he cant preform.

Make Mcdonald the face of Melbourne FC.

Wouldnt get rid of Weetra, he isnt that bad.

Keep recruiting like you have started, not the "best" talent, but the kids who will die to play football, and are not just flat track bullies, you built a team of them, need more Mcdonalds, not more bruces.

we dont have enough fans to take back control.
we'll be offered the gold coast position.
and we dont have the supporters to rally against it.

Then what does that say about the culture of Melbourne, if not even Gary Lyon can show any passion? :(

I want to see Nathan Carrol delisted. Simply because he can't deliver, poor performance and lets the defence down. That is why opposition score goals too easily and quickly.

It's time to try Martin in the defence.

We need more former players and officials to show some passion for the club in the public eye. At least let people know that we are still around, and that people do still care about the club.

I put more on the shoulders on the spastics in the midfield who can't keep the ball out of our defence for more than five seconds at a time.

Carroll was terrible today. How hard is it to hit the ball with your fist when you are 190 odd centimetres?

As a neutral observer, I'd want all MCC members (that follow Melbourne and go to Melbourne games) to be forced to take out Melbourne club membership.

That's not the case is it? Melbourne loses money by MCC members not paying the MFC one cent?
