View Full Version : 5 years time
In 5 years time, what does your wet dream team look like?
This is assuming we make no trades/draft picks and blokes retire at a reasonable pace.
For mine:
FB: Bock (30) Rutten (30) Johncock (31)
HB: Symes (28) Moran (27) Dangerfield (23)
C: Otten (24) Knights (27) Mackay (25)
HF: Thompson (30) Sellar (24) Porplyzia (29)
FF: Hentshel (31) Tippett (26) Jacky (24)
1R: Griffin (26) Van Berlo (27) Vince (28)
INT: Douglas (26), Maric (27), Reilly (30)
Now that's a team full of blokes who we're relatively sure can make it at AFL level which doesn't even touch some of the unknown quantities who from reports can make it and succeed at AFL level such as Armstrong, Gallman, Walker, Cook, Moss and Petrenko. If you look at that side with only 4 blokes in their 30s and the fact that new draftees will be coming into the side, you can't help but be excited:thumbsu:
The future's so bright, we need to wear shades!:p

Jo, I'm flat out trying to think about what I have to do today, let alone 5 years time! :p But I like the look of yours :thumbsu:
That team is only 3 years away from being our reality. Maybe only 2 years.
Might want to throw in a couple of TBA draft picks somewhere as well.

Seeing as your bench is one short ill be adding T Walker (23) to the forward line and moving Douglas to the bench for some spark coming off it,
Sad reality is there will probably guys on that team who will leave us but we will have probably 15-20 + Rookies new draftees over 5 years
Some have to miss out

I doubt Hentschel will be playing in 5 years time. And there will be some all new players not even on that list by then.

I am confident that Gallman, Walker, Moss and Cook will all be playing in 5 years time
However, not so sure about Maric, I doubt at this stage he will be at the club next year

Going on the players we have now, I'd maybe be looking at something like this (used Jo172's as a bit of a template for a few of the smalls as really, most of them would be rotating through the midfield):
B: Kite Rutten Johncock
HB: Symes Bock Reilly
C: Otten Vince Mackay
HF: Thompson Sellar Porplyzia
F: Walker Tippet Jacky
1R: Griffin Dangerfield Douglas
Inter: Moran, Knights, van Berlo, Gallman
Now of course theres going to be departures and arrivals, but at this stage thats how I'd like to see it. In reality, whilst I'd love him to still be around, Hentschel might be done by then. Like what I've heard about Kite and think he could be our next KPD in the making with an amazing closing speed to keep up with both the talls and smalls. I've got Reilly in Maccas role, as I think in his later years this is where he may move with his quality play reading and sublime skills. Couldn't fit all four of Griffin, Tippet, Moran and Maric in, and due to Maric's lack of athleticism and versitility compared to the rest, I think he may struggle. Looks a fair team, however, as Vader said, this will probably be our team in 3 years and as a post Mcleod, Goodwin, Edwards era team looks pretty dammed good if all those blokes keep developing like we think they will.

There's going to be alot of competition for spots in a couple years time if all our young players continue progressing well... its a very good problem to have though... all the players being bantered around for the side in 5 (or probably less) years should be there barring injury or moving else where.
Then there's the likes of Patrenko, Curnow, Moss, Armstrong and Cook... what are people's thoughts on how these guys will go? Then theres our newest NSW scholarship holder Sam Martyn! he's only 15-16 atm i think??... correct me if im wrong here... Going to be sad to think some of these young guns might not make it but at the end of the day only 22 can be on the park.
