Jamison was an absolute bargain for pick seventeen in the rookie draft and can play on talls and smalls.
Ditto for Goldsack whowas 20 plus when drafted and is a versatile and quick tall defender.
The Carlton player reminds me of Michael Sexton who was a mobile tall defender and a gun.
Jamison has beaten a small forward such as Medhurst twice and played well on Lloyd twice, so he isn't just a flash in the pan.
Jamison is Karl Norman with a brain IMO and a very versatile player with good legspeed for his height.
Which mature defender would you prefer?

Goldy's got a better history behind him, and he's done some big jobs himself.
Realistically, there's not much between the two - I'd say Jamison's a slightly better stopper, while Goldy's a slightly better rebounder.
Jamo was an absolutely amazing pickup by the Blues. Has good height, is extremely quick and has excellent skills. Judd rates the guy highly. Several talent classes above Goldsack, who looks like becoming a Maxwell Mk2 at this stage. :)

Honest opinion is that Jamieson will be a better long term player. Goldsack was a mature age draftee, he's further developed than Goldsack.
Both bargain pick ups. Good pool as well.

While i like Jamison a lot Lloyd has kicked 10 on him in 2 games, so to say he has done well on him is a fair stretch.
I like them both
While i like Jamison a lot Lloyd has kicked 10 on him in 2 games,..
Actually kicked only 4 on him in the last game, and beat him on the night. Did a little better than Mal Michael in that game BTW. lol :)

Like i said 10 in 2 games.
Mal Michael has nothing to do with the topic, so please stay on topic.

Both are 193cm and in the high 80 kg's mark which is pretty much the prototype of the modern defender - 190-194cm, thin, but fast. Jamo is a year older, but I think they will both turn out to be pretty solid players. Jamison will be fasttracked due to Carlton's poor big Key defenders which means he will probably be better in the long run if he can respond positivly to it.
Goldsack has the protection of Wakelin, Harry O and Brown so he development would be more steady of a longer period of time you would think

Jamo actually put on some size over the summer. According to ratts during pre-season Jamo is now 95kg. Also 195cm.

Goldsack by a wide margin, love his second efforts and endeavour at the ball, always surprises me because he looks so awkward but nearly always get the job done.

He's still listed as 192 cm, 87 kg on the Carlton website, but then again he's also still listed as a rookie.

Our website is sh#t. They never update height and weight.
but he is still a rookie. hes a nominated rookie though so can play 22 games even if we have no long tem injury.

Ah, cheers.
Incidentally, Goldsack "kept" Buddy Franklin to 4 goals, which is not exactly something we'd be shouting from the rooftops. He was a clear BOG against Sydney last year though, while playing on Micky O'Loughlin, which I don't think Jamo has achieved yet.
Having said that, I've rated Jamison from the first game of his I saw, which is saying something because I hate Carlton and don't rate many of their players, as a rule. I think he's a real find. :thumbsu:

It is a good poll, however you did state Goldack was drafted aged 20, when he was 19, just one (not two) years older than fellow draftees. Jamison is a mature-aged player, almost a year older than Goldsack, so I wouldn't say he is a better long-term project player.
Goldsack has done far more than what Jamison has done, which gets him the vote. Goldsack has succeeded on numerous occassions, while Jamison played his first great game on Paul Medhurst last week.
Goldy has beaten Swan Michael O'Loughlin comprehensively on two-three occassions, whilst also given jobs on other key players. As for Jamison vs Lloyd, Lloyd has towelled him up on both occassions. Saying he has done well on Lloyd is a complete mis-statement. Showing signs may be used, but to still get beaten comprehensively twice is not a good thing.
Goldsack conceded only 30 goals to direct opponents in 17 games, which included three finals. He also had averaged more contested possessions than any other debutant, and earned a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination. Michael Jamison conceded 15 goals in 5 games, which was the second worst in the comp during that period. How people vote Jamison > Goldsack is unbelievably ridiculous.

goldsack pretty easily.
Ditto. Goldsack is going to be one of our best players in the future. Ignoring Parrot's stupid calls of him being like Maxwell, he is all class. Hard as nails, explosive pace, excellent stopper, always has time and composure, pretty good disposal. Will be a top 5 player for Collingwood one day.
