OK - so it's our worst start since 1996, when not only were we 1-3, but we also went to 1-4.
But then, in 1996, something strange happened. We won 12 straight (equal club record), and we did it not on the back of John Worsfold - who did his knee in Rd. 2 against Brisbane at the WACA - but on the likes of (then) youngsters like Ben Cousins (first year), Andrew Donnelly, Fraser Gehrig, Jarrad Schofield and Chad Morrison.
Mitchell White became an All-Australian half-forward and Peter Matera became an All-Australian half-back.
Not saying we'll win 12 straight - but who's going to get us up this year?

Provided Butler hasn't played since GF 2006, I doubt he's our answer to get us up.

So true. THat run in 1996 was such an awesome little run :thumbsu: We were robbed in the finals too! :thumbsd:
Anyway as for a 2008 turnaround some sort of similarities could be:
96 Cousins - 08 McKinley
96 Donnelly - 08 C.Jones
96 Gehrig - 08 B.Jones
96 Schofield - 08 Masten
96 Morrison - 08 Ebert
96 Mitchell White - 08 Possibly LeCras if fit

Yeah I mentioned this in some other post. We were excellent in 1996. I believe that year we should have really won a flag but got screwed by the AFL law that made us play Essendon at the G instead of Subi.
Although injuries still took their toll in the end, losing the best CHB and our captain early on was tough.
