Just read on AFL website that Kennedy will be an emergency. Eagles omitted Jmac and Selwood bringing in fletcher, panda, embers and cones.
If cones gets selected before him, when will he get his chance?
Surely he deserves a chance, but if cones kicks a bag, he will keep his spot and it will be even harder for 'the fridge' to get into the side.

yeh its bullcrap how fletcher makes the team. he will make the same mistakes as he always has, unless he found his right foot in the WAFL.
Jmac was very stiff, he should be out there. Same with Kennedy!!

I'd say Scooter was dropped for rotation reasons; can't have a first year player going in too hard or they'll burn out.
McNamara was everywhere last week, and was ok, but obviously not good enough for the selection panel, who have decided to play more senior players, so he had to go.
We had a choice between Kennedy and Cones, and Cones has put on a better showing(on paper), so he gets the nod this week, though wouldn't be surprised to see a late change, considering East aren't playing this week.
Quit your whinging people, Kennedy couldn't kick goals at Carlton, which is a renowned attacking side. I know he's gained fitness since coming over, but don't expect miracles even when he does come in.

Have to agree with your premise
Our forward line has been very ordinary and Cones is more of a specialist goal kicker than Kennedy. His WAFL form has also been better
It also allows Lynch to play further up the ground which will hopefully bring some of his touch back.

Even if he doesn't make mistakes many will jump on him for making them anyway. Let me say that after watching MacNamara in the first round (and I don't think his stats have changed much from then) and seeing Fletcher last week in the WAFL I know who I would have picked. An extra 10 possessions and all of them bar literally 1 or 2 found their target.

"If cones kicks a bag he'll keep his spot?" Am i the only one here who'd be supportive of this? Isn't that his job? Isn't this where we're getting raped? If he kicks goals he's doing more than the rest of our team. Anyone who's brought in and kicks goals regardless of their age is more than fine by me. If Cones is the man to do it then Kennedy will have to wait unfortunately. I see no problem with that whatsoever.

I know you're refering to the Fletcher inclusion but we are already playing McKinley, Masten and Spangher. That's far from Freo, although I'm probably missing your hyperbole.

We need someone to kick goals and so far only McKinley is doing it. If the selection panel believe Cones to be the man before Kennedy then they'll have their reasons. I don't care who they select as long as they present themselves and kick straight. Start to get a score on the board and all of a sudden you'll see the team lift. :thumbsu:

Possibly the dumbest thing I've read in weeks
So basically, if Cones comes out and kicks 7 tomorrow, you're going to be devastated because Kennedy may not play for a while longer? That doesn't even make any sense FFS!

Cones kicked 7.4 in a whitewash. Im sure if you put Kennedy in that team he would have done the same. Cones may get lucky and kick a few, but Kennedy is a better player. Give him the nod.

Moot point. The fact is that Cones' form HAS been better, thus he needs to be rewarded with a chance. What kind of message do you think it sends to the playing group if someone is kicking 7 goals a week and not getting a game?

Playing for Claremont aint the same as playing for the Eagles. The way we are going, the ball won't get into forward 50 enough for him to have a major impact. Kennedy makes more sense because he is more versatile and can be put in the ruck.
I am interested to see what cones will do.
Cones was unlucky to be dropped last year...which i think was after the Adelaide game? he hit the post a few times and ended up with 1 goal but could have easily had 3-4 and would have stayed in the team. Cones would have been very handy in the Semi Final v. Collingwood. I hope he has a impact tomorrow night.

We are looking for a tall forward who can mark inside 50 and kick straight.
That is what C Jones does.
Kennedy is a CHF who works his butt off as an avenue to goal.
Lynch will play CHF and Cones deep with McKinnely........its one setup we should look at. I was keen to get Kennedy playing against Carlton with hopefully a couple of games under his belt......
Pretty sure the coaching commitee know what they are doing, even Darren "I lack the skills to motivate my forwards" Harris.
Cones deserves his spot due to his wonderful WAFL form.
Kennedy knocking down the door is not a bad thing, it should make him hungrier.
Possibly saving him for a rnd 7 debut perhaps?

Umm maybe just my point of veiw but Half forward isn't the problem we link up all right out side its just when we go inside that we have problems so Cones is the best option as he is a Full Forward and Kennedy is a Half Forward. If Hansen wasnt injured he would be in the team and Lynch would've been dropped but if lynch doesnt have a great game at H/F I think you may see kennedy next week (unless hansen is fit again) but Woosh may use Cones at H/F and swing him back to the square which I think would be a bad idea I think Lynch is more of a problem out side 50 as you get opposition defenders rushing him when hes within 70mtrs of goal and that frees up a player inside 50 for the pass.:)

Couldnt agree more!!!! throw Lecras in the mix when hes fit and our forward line looks pretty good.
H/F Hurn---Lynch---Staker
F/F Lecras---Cones---McKinley
Of course u could throw Embers, Hansen, Wirra and kennedy in the mix for hurn and stakers spot.:thumbsu:

I just can't believe he has been left out again.
This is the year that I'm losing all faith in the judgements of our selection committee :(
Why include a marking CHF in a trade, proceed to talk him up throughout the pre-season and then not give him a chance when it is that spot in the team that is of greatest weakness?
By the time he gets a chance the poor guys confidence is going to be shot. Must be thinking he has been shafted by everyone. :thumbsd:
