Just like to say a big well done to the Foxtel commentary team from Western Australia who provided an unbiased, decisive and interesting call this afternoon.
They knew all our players names, and in all situations of the game (when either team had the momentum) they would always provide a fair and reasonable analysis on what is going write and wrong for both teams.
Really helped a guy who couldn't watch the game at the ground today due to playing his own footy enjoy the telecast as a Crows supporter.

Oh and right now I do believe the Crows actually won the game.
But yes, lets provide the most in depth analysis on Fremantle, who played well and why the didn't win.

I am with ya Chunky. My wife picked up their bias as well. Whenever Freo scored a goal they discussed how well Freo setup etc. etc. but when the Crows scored it was what Freo had done wrong with no mention of how well the Crows had played. Every free kick the crows got was analysed and of course the result was that we didnt deserve the free, every free Freo received was of course okay.
I miss Clinton, he at least didnt take sides.

I agree, it was bloody awful. Did the Crows even play, I couldn't pick that up from the tv.

But to his credit, I think he absolutly loves Kurt Tippett. He creams his pants every time Kurt gets to the ball and to be fair today was not the first time. He is a MASSIVE Tippett fan. I tuned in to 3AW a couple of weeks ago and he was raving about how great a player Tippett will develop into.

Yeh but Tippett didn't quite touch it enough to square the ledger up. :p
I know you guys hated the commentary. I will say this though. The only reason Tony Shaw appeared to be barracking for Freo was because Glen Jackovich was anti-Freo.
Having said that they really needed a South Australian influence in the commentary team to square the ledger

And rightly so! The kid is a GUN! He drilled us a new one today. He was by far their best player and thats great considering he was playing in his 4th AFL game.
That kid is going to be a star!

Oh no doubt, he played a super, super game.
He deserved everything he got.
However, I just thought some of the good things we did went completely unnoticed, replaced with comments like 'Fremantle needed to do better there'.
If you watch the telecast, you'll understand.

They do get like that on state TV stations. Here all that is on the news all week is crows this crows that. If i was a Port supporter (or any other team) i would be quite annoyed. And if you think what you got is bad, at least you got to watch the game live. Mum's a Bulldogs supporter and 2 channels are broadcasting the Port game and none for the bulldogs, mum is really pi*sed off. :thumbsd:

Compared to Danny Frawley these guys were superstars.
Frawley gave me the shites last week telling me how good Hawthorn were even when we were kicking goals early in the game.

I think this is a major problem with all the stations, there seems to be a decided lack of South Australian commentators, we consistently have to put up with current or former players from the opposing teams, I'd just like to see some, even if he's a Port linked person, someone with some knowledge. Back when 7 had the footy originally, we always had Neil Kerley on the boundry, often Cornes was in the comm box etc. even Mcdermotts alright, just gave a bit of inside info on the players and know who they are.

Thats gold:D but also quite disgraceful, I can see how you could get Vince and VB mixed up in the spare of the moment, but calling them Goodwin:confused:, wtf, they look nothing alike. Also then on replay to get it wrong just shows how little they knew about our team which is just pathetic.

Knew absolutely stuff all about our players - and that was when they actually identified them problem.
Tony Shaw is a moron, absolute idiot.
Jakovich isn't too bad (he's still bad though), but he was clearly barracking for Freo (as they all were), and there was no one to offset it.

I could not believe how bad it was.
"Vince (Mackay), kicks long to Mackay (van Berlo), gives off the handball to van Berlo (Vince)". Any chance of them getting the right name? Or at least even noticing that they were getting it wrong?
Jakovich and Shaw just don't stop nattering. They just bumble their way through some unimportant convo while the play is unfolding before them.

I reckon Jakovich does a comparatively better job than the others. Best of a bad Foxtel bunch in the post-Clinton era.

Even my wife noticed the commentary was all about fremantle... and she was IN THE OTHER ROOM doing... I don't know, something feminine.
She spent a fair bit of the game yelling imitations of the commentators. "Freo is not playing well, Freo is still in it, Freo is gaining momentum, Freo is losing momentum... Freo Freo Freo."
At least it kept me amused.
