Lenny Hayes laid 12 tackles against Essendon.
Is this a record?
I haven't heard of anyone in the past who has claimed to have more than a dozen tackles in a match.
Does anyone know?

Ball laid 15 tackles against Geelong at Skilled Stadium a few years ago.
Seem to recall that being a record at the time.

Lenny Hayes has got to be the hardest guy at the footy in the league (Ball not far behind). As a result he's right up there in clearances atm.
4 players have recorded 15 tackles in a single match.
Harris, Rooke, Ball among them. Can't remember the fourth.
I'll admit St Kilda isn't the team I enjoy watching play the most but Lenny Hayes is a superstar and is very underrated. Top game on Friday night against Essendon. :thumbsu:

Brock McLean had a squillion at Sydney 1 year IIRC

Last season was in Brownlow form when he got injured. This year he is in the same way yet everybody says all players who have had same kind of injuries are slow to come back to their old form. It seems he isn't, at all. :thumbsu:

The most Lenny has had is 13, and 12 four times. Ball has had 14 and 15 tackle games.

12 tackles on two occasions this year already.
I don't think you realise how badly you miss somebody like him until he's gone. Just a huge presence in the middle of the ground.

(james mcdonald had 15 vs fremantle) was the last time it was done i think
st lenny is a very very valuable player for us and i dont think many people realise that

Karl Langdon laid 13 tackles against Carlton in 1991! Karl Bloody Langdon!

It seems he isn't, at all. :thumbsu:He only missed three games with that collarbone, and was hardly in Brownlow form for the first five games. Didn't receive votes in any of them, either.

Its impressive as many players actually tackle...the 12 refers to 'effective' tackles. He may well have tackled 15 or more, but he very obviously makes most of them stick!
James McDonald had 15 in 2006.
I recall Ben Robbins of NM fame having something around the 15 in 2002.
Bartel, Ball, McLean, Rooke, Harris (Kangaroos), Liberatore, Kirk would be the bigger accumulators of the last 10 years in terms of 'one off performances' over 12 tackles in a match.
BUT yes, HAYES is a genuine GUN.
