View Full Version : How does it feel?
To draw the game? Are you happy? sad? angry?
Did very well to get back from 19 points down.
Lucky to get the draw, but angry that the Giansiracusa goal wasn't paid. Looked to be well over the goal line!

Dissapointment yet relief.
Disappointment that we weren't able to beat Richmond yet relief that somehow we managed to come back from 25 pts down and snatch a draw.

Ripped off. I wonder if Rocket will make an "official complaint"
Take one positive from this game IMO. We were able to come back when Bulldogs teams of old and a lot of other teams would have rolled over.

I'm satisfied with a draw considering how far we were behind with a few minutes to go. Of course, we never should have been in that situation. However, to come back like that when it looked lost shows the character of the team. And... we're still undefeated this year!

Upset. I hate draws more than anything.
Didn't see this Gia "goal" as the "live" replay in Sydney missed the first 2 quarters. Why couldn't 7 let FOX show us that at least. If I wanted a crappy goal montage I would have battled the crappy AFL site for an even crappier Bigpond video of it.

I thought that Gia def kicked that goal looked over the line.
But we should have won really, kicked very poorly six more scoring shots and Welsh kicked 0.5 and most of them we shots he would normally get.
Positives:
1) Relax in what could have been a potential build-up of 'winning streak' pressure from fans, media, and inside the club. In fact imagine the pressure if we ended up at the top of the ladder, early in the season. We're obviously a step below Geelong and Hawthorn and don't particularly need a focus on comparisons.
2) A draw is almost as good as a win, and helps us keep the 'gap' between us and the rest of the field for a top four place.
3) Again, we come from behind to take points from the game instead of rolling over and dying. We might not have been convincing again this week, but walk away with points. Good teams need to get a result even when they're not on song.
I'm still pretty pissed off, but considering the way the boys pulled together to fight back and record a draw, today is a positive.

Goal or no goal you guys were lucky being 25 points down. Dont think either team really has any right to feel ripped off frankly.

Empty, pissed we missed all those shots at goal.
Pissed that Dogs midfielders were held onto in the middle for the last half without a free comming our way.
If we are to go top four we have to play better than that.

Thought you were gone with 4 minutes left. Wallsy and Rex had also said so. Be proud of those last 4 minutes.

I don't feel too bad ... not as bad as the Tiger players, the looks on their faces cheered me up considerably. ;)
When was the Gia goal? Channel 7 dudded us up here in Qld, we only got first half "highlights" and the second half live. If they didn't want to show AFL why did they bid for the rights??

Here we go, the Richmond supporters are whinging that they never let the Dogs play well.
Yes, we got out of jail. But, only good sides come back from more than four goals down halfway through the last.
Get over it Tigers.

Really dissappointed that we had to perform a miracle to just draw the game.
IMO we really struggle to play well against bottom sides. We lost last year to Carlton and Melbourne, we drew against Richmond this year. For whatever reason, we just take it easy against lower opposition when we start favourite. Not sure why.
The draw is similiar to a win for us given that traditionally our percentage is sheissenheusen as we get cricket scores kicked against us.
It is going to sound really negative saying this, but a team who lets Richmond kick 130 against them, has to look at their structure and game plan if we want to win the premiership. Good teams don't let last years wooden spooners kick 130 against us, as happened last year with Carlton.
Glad that we escaped with a draw but really wonder if the players believe their own publicity and ladder postion sometimes.

I swear Nathan Brown thought they'd won it when the siren went.
TBH I'm pretty disappointed.

Its only round 5. Yeah we were lucky to escape with a draw, but Richmond have improved this year. This time last year noone would of even picked Geelong to make the top 4, they were sitting at 10th after round 5. Im not saying we are Geelong, but its still a long way till the finals and im sure the Dogs will learn from these mistakes. I still have alot of confidence in the Dogs this year and I for one am proud of the last quarter effort they have put in. Its something the Dogs of the past wouldnt of done.

For the record it was 25 points down !
I honestly didn't think we were going to win but was thinking about next week and how we are going to improve from this loss.
When we drew It was the same feeling except we walked away with 2 points so I was actually 60% happy if you get what I mean ? ;)
Dirty dirty dirty that we didn't whip that low life, but pleased they didn't beat us either (at least on the scoreboard). I half suspected this would happen, just glad they didn't get 4 points.

I'm rapt with that result.
We were gone in that last quarter and Richo was starting to put on a bit of a show, geeing the crowd up etc... The dogs of old would have rolled over and been beaten by 40+ points but these guys did not give in. I don't care who the opposition is. Richmond were on a roll and were nailing the coffin shut but we fought our way back.
I'm really, really proud of the team.
I was almost directly in line with the goal line when Richo marked that ball on the line and I thought the umpires were right. Haven't seen the replay yet so that might change my mind.

Not sure how anyone can be happy with what we served up today?
We let Richmond kick 130 points
We should of had the game iced by quarter time
Our decision making was very poor, again.
Plenty of passengers across the half forward line, our pressure skills were horrible and players like Gia and Aka need to wake up very quicky about the need to have defense as a part of their game, Gia's contests today were laughable
We more often than not need to be sparked into action by a desperate challenge from opposition. I knew when we missed all those shots in the first, we wouldn't be able to keep up that momentum and sure enough we didn't.
Johnson was clearly injured and should not have played
Richmond are wooden spooners
Apparently we are ready for an assult on the top 4
Our players pencilled this in before the game began and we almost got caught with our pants down. Nothing to be happy about today and lets hope they get themselves together and put WCE away next week

To be Honest the tiges played out of their asses. We had a poor game overall, it was a bit like last week only the tiges got 2 goals from frees and a monster bomb from richo at the wrong time for us. I think we always thought we would run over the top of them but they got those 4 goals up. I'll take it as a positive and those 2 points might mean the difference between 2nd and 3rd.

I wouldn't point the finger at just Gia, although his effort in the third hardly came across as desperate.
Very few wanted a contest today. When you consider how many kids Richmond were playing it was very disappointing.

I'd like to think he wouldn't.
It's impossible to say whether or not it cost us the came. Had it been given a goal the game would have been completely different from there on.

I couldn't agree any more.
I mean, this is last years wooden spooner and we let them kick 130 points. That is the real worry. Good teams wouldn't let them kick over 90, yet we give them 130. Its a worrying trend.
Against crap sides we can outscore their high totals. But against really good sides(Geelong, Hawthorn etc) we don't have that luxury. We need a good combination of attack and defence, not just free wheeling all the time.
Yes, it was fantastic that we salvaged a draw, and we did fantastic in those last 3 minutes. A great effort. But bottom line, we should never have put ourselves in that position in the first place.
2 or 3 years ago we carved up the tigers by 20 goals. We have gotten better since then and I doubt whether Richmond has. This game, we scrape in with a draw. IMO to be pleased with that result is setting our standards too low.

Spot on.
I can understand how people can be proud of our fightback, but we are so much better than we were yesterday and we almost came away empty handed against a rubbish football side who are nowhere near it (for now).
I can't be happy with the result, too many passengers and nowhere near enough hardness at the contest. I bet you if we palyed Geelong, we would of been 10 times moreswitched on than we were yesterday.

It was a most complacent display. All throughout the game we assumed our class would get us over the line. It was not to be however because we in fact dont have that much class. We are not a top four side, but we are not a bottom four side either. We could finish anywhere between 5 and 12 without surprising. Our dumbness came at the selection table Johnno was never right, and we pretty much wasted a player, Josh Hill is believing his own publicity and I cant find an adjective to describe Giansiracusas effort to provide a marking contest in the third quarter.
I will describe nathan Eagletons game as "vanilla"
Murph is a genius, Hudson a big plus and Griff and Coon tried hard.
All in all a Twin Peaks type of match where we drifted between dream and reality

I think you are all being a little harsh. We were a rubbish team at the end of last year, and yet we are now 4.5 games up. What makes you think Richmond have not improved from last year?
I think they played extremely well, they were running, taking risks and we were playing catch up footy. However the sign of a better side was one that could come back and put pressure on them to reach a draw when it all seemed lost.
I think a few players need to be rotated this week. SKipper in for Johno, Westy for Harbrow and maybe Farren for Boyd, I think it freshens the players up if they have a week off in between if they have not played well and even though Boydy tried he made a lot of mistakes.
