View Full Version : Play the kids

It has gotten to a point where we're treading water losing badly with the elder statesmen of our team. Chip Frawley was a classic example of why we should be playing more and more kids, although sometimes he screwed up, he showed a fair bit and definitely should be in the team next week.
That said, it's time we bring in the likes of Buckley, Maric, Martin. We'll still lose, it's inevitable but we'll be better for it

I want to see Neita say that his injury is a long term one, bring up Valenti. Then he can come back in Round 20, and get his farewell.
Its been a long time coming, but we can farewell White, Yze and Neitz in one game. THEN ____ING MOVE ON!!

and promote Valenti
I dont see this happening anytime soon. Even if Neitz is placed on the long term injury list I cant see them promoting him because of the position he plays.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!
Why do people keep saying farewell White? We still need him even with PJ improving, Meesen is still a fair bit away from being a permanent replacement for White.

The longer we keep White, the longer it will take for a Johnson or Meesen to show something. We got rid of quality ruckmen like Jolly and Simmonds back when White was in his prime. Now that he is past his best, we need to move him on and develop our next ruckmen. I'd rather see Johnson and Meesen play together next season. At least we'll know whether they are good enough or not. Better that than waiting another 3 years because White is still hanging around.

Apparently Garland was fantastic for the Zebs today so id like to see him back in.
He's been low on confidence at AFL level so hopefully this gives him a boost, he's not a bad player.

I think we'll make a heap of changes AFTER Round 6, according to what Bailey said recently.

Prefer to see him string 3 or 4 good games before bringing him back in...same with guys like Maric etc.

Can we please win one game at least and then play the kids? I'd rather not be 1-21, but it's a million times better than 0-22

Queen's Birthday is coming up soon, so were almost at a win.

White is our only player in the Vic and All Stars sqauds and you want to drop him? it clearly shows thats his one of our best players you duds ,why would u want to get rid of him..he is still playing well.
and im sure yze, neitz, holland, warnock, wheatley, miller, carroll, weetra, bode, c.johnson, jamar n so on will get the boot before him

if want want to play and develop meeson thats fine, white can easily be used in the forward line..all 3 could play.
White could be very useful in the development of PJ and Messon as well

Yes, I'd love to sack White and have Jamar as our starting ruckman. What the ____ are people smoking on here?

Get rid of both of them at the end of the season. Then we draft the Fijian freak, give him some game time, along with Johnson and Meesen, and we'll have a long term ruck division.

Garland was good today so why be a hypocrite. Your saying play the kids but not garland whos played two good games in the vfl in a row and is only 19. Im glad your not the coach fair enough he stumbled once or twice in afl level but so far neitz stumbled all season garland has plenty of years to improve unlike some of the others in the team

I'm not saying I hate White, far from it. I fondly remember rooting the WB season a couple of years...
Coming from this year, we need to broom the team. I'd rather see Whitey go out well, rather then pulling a Neitz.
Each to their own I suppose. Jamar can piss off though.

Re Jamar - He is too stiff and not athletic enough and definitely not skilled enough for modern day footy - Ruckman these days have to be able to scoop the ball up at their feet on the run (alah Cox, Kreuzer, White, Brogan....) but Jamar is clearly not in that league and I can't seem him ever getting near that league so we should say goodbye to the big Russian at the end of the season

Alright. Allow me to clarify. Garland at AFL level (for mine) has shown sweet fruck all. He has played a handful of games and nothing he has done suggests there is any redeeming qualities about the lad. However, if he is consistently putting in good performances in the magoos and he's knocking on the door, get him in there. But until then, basically every youngin other than him can have a run.
I'm telling you he's just lost at sea when he puts on the red and blue. I wish him all the best though

He will grow into a good player though CD and it can't hurt any to give him a run in the seniors - the experience will be invaluable and I have a strong feeling that if we had played him more we wouldn't be any lower on the ladder than we are already :D

I dunno Micky, maybe it's just me having a vendetta against him. He just looks like an unco. But oh alright let him play...Sheeeeesh:p

Nah you are right CD but the lad has shown glimpses of something special - its just that the rest of the time he has shown us glimpses of complete shite - Id prefer to focus on the "something special" and give the lad a chance to eliminate the shite through experience :thumbsu:

Frawley was very good I thought (as per your previous post CD). Body on body I think Frawley is quite good and he looks like a genuine defender, confident knows where to go etc.
I think Garland needs some serious guidance ala Jarred Brennan when he first started playing for Brisbane and he is one of the few juniors I agree should be playing reserves for a while. I'm probably the only one on this board who thinks so but I reckon Wheetra will prove a lot of people wrong once he hits his straps. I'm not saying he has been overly great so far but he does look agile and I like his attitude.
