i missed the third quarter but in the last term admittedly when the game was over there were a few positives, Mastens run and delivery into the forward line was very good, Mckinlays marking and accuracy in front of goal and in the last 10 mins the run from behind looked very good also hopefully they can take that into next week...

We kicked 16 goals

McKinnely kicked 5

Masten started to hit targets with hand and foot

We didn't bomb the ball as much.

A Selwood busted his guts out all day, played 4 quarters

Wirra looked interested.

We lost by 25 and played very very badly.

Negatives:

Alot of bad attitude and body language out there.

Lynch...............

Kerr..............did he play today????????? If he can't shake a tag he's better off playing HFF and thats it.

C Jones had lttle impact.

Our disposal by foot was poor, very poor..........especially out of defence. Our clangers gave away 4-5 goals easily.

how much better does nico look when he has the ball and attacks with the clear direction to move it forward as quickly as possible.....

I though his game wasnt that great but there was some glimpses of what he can do when hes not in about 15 minds.

Back to basic's thats what is needed/

16 genuine goals too, not many cheapies in there.

Was good to see some accuracy aswell. Compared to last game our shooting on goal was super. 16.8 this week was much improved from the 5.15 or whatever it was last week.

Impressed with Mastens delivery in general. Appears to be one of our only mids who can hit a target. That pass to Cones in the 3rd term was a ripper. Pitty Cones didn't honour the pass by dropping the simple chest mark. We'll get there, mightn't be this year but there are some signs that we're improving.

I could get used to hearing Masten to McKinley, happened 2-3 times just in that final quarter!

Looks much more comfortable on the wing/forward of the centre. It beats me why Woosha wants him to be Banfield/Chick's replacement - he just doesn't have the defensive skill set that Banfield/Chick had.

Positives for me:

- McKinley is kicked 5 goals
- Masten - I could get used to seeing run through the middle (he's quicker than I thought) - excellent last quarter (3 goal assists)
- Selwood busted his balls all day - a 4 quarter effort.
- The last 10-15mins of the game - everyone was running/working for each other, the ball movement was much quicker and generally down the corridor - a much more cohesive effort.
- Accurate kicking for goal

This is a positives thread, so I think people should stick to the positives.

Anyway, positives for me were;

- Masten got better as the game went on
- McKinley was taking really strong grabs
- Selwood's work ethic
- The Big Unit seemed to get more confidence as the game went on
- Wirra and Cox didn't drop their heads
- A couple of good 1%ers towards the end of the game

Things will get better if the boys play as hard as they did in the last quarter and we get Priddis and Lecras back.

I'd like to see that! :thumbsu:

At least until he becomes match fit. Could become one of the best crumbing forwards in the league. He's offering us zip elsewhere at the moment.

Was good to see some accuracy aswell.

definitely a plus..its the 2nd time this year we've kicked less points than goals and is encouraging.

Positives:
Accuracy in front of goals.
We scored more than 100 points.
We played that last quarter with a bit of heart and hopefully that will give us some confidence to go on with.
Players like Embley, Stenglein and Selwood got out of first gear.
McKinley has got hands like steel traps and kicks truely.
Masten looked very good in the last half.
Glass and Cox and to an extent Hunter looked better than they have for a couple of weeks. (Maybe on the right side of their injuries).
Wirra is a legend, doesn't get the recognition that he deserves.

Negatives:
Skills still not up to scratch.
Need to put a win on the board for their confidence.
Lynch needs to be a bigger physical presence.
Braun and Fletcher, for the most part, still below what they have previously produced.
All the losers in the crowd that left before the start of the last quarter are truely weak as far as supporters go. I'm glad you missed seeing the best quarter of football we have played this year.:thumbsd:

Positive:

Glass, Spangher, Brown, McKinley. We may just be able to get a good spine in the next few years.

Negative:

Fletcher, Stenglein, Priddis, Rosa, Braun. Our midfield cannot compete. Fletcher is crap. Stenglein needs to go take Chick/Banfield's old role because he's not a a proper midfielder, Rosa and Braun are wingmen, Priddis is a workhorse ball magnet, albeit 2nd string midfielder.

Cox and Kerr aren't enough. Hopefully Masten can step up.

Why isn't Selwood Snr being used more through the midfield?

Every time iv'e caught an Eagles game this year he seems to be stuck down back playing as a defender.

Looking at the stats from the weekend was he used in a different role this week?

Total crap. Until his injury Priddis was our second best possession winner he is damaging and will become more so when the rest of the midfield group like Braun and Fletcher either step up or Jmac and Masten take their roles. Priddis being back will only make as much of a difference if our senior group plays like they did in the last 15m for a whole game.

That's what I want to know.

Selwood is a much better centreman than he is a small defender.
