think we found his best position, did some nice work rebounding from half back

I like it. He needs a challenge. He seems to just cruise along at half forward. Playing him down back will teach him accountability, but it also allows him to get his hands on the ball, which should give him some confidence. Plus, he is a strong overhead mark and a good tackler.

He beat Fisher in one on ones, and they say Fished plays tall for his height so I suppose Col plays like a giant for his, he had a few one on ones in the 3rd quarter right infront of me where he positioned his body perfectly and then spoiled well. Down back is a good place for him and might let him develop until he can go into the midfield.

Sylvia would surely have the most threads of any player on this board in the last 6 months. I'm glad he's found a position but i just think he needs to be around the ball more often because he knows what to do when he gets it, just doesn't get it enough sometimes.

he did well on fisher today... gave away 6cms but had 5kgs on fish. I think he is a bit lost to you guys playing on the last line (where he found himself a little bit today)... I would of thought he would be better suited to a wing and for him to play a similar game style to the way we play Kade Simpson...
I think your chopping and changing of Lynden Dunn is astounding... He has a great set of dukes on him and can read the play well... I would think that he might be better suited to a HBF position running straight up the guts, being the third man up spoiling etc... sort of a cross between the way we play waite and scotland... got a fair shoe on him too so any running ball he gets at the back of the square would be in the hands of a forward taking a shot after a bounce and a long kick

This year I thought they were going to groom him as a tagger which I didn't mind but he's played on the wing and CHF. With Sylvia I'm happy for them to play him back, forward or in the middle as long as he's starting to improve and working hard. But with Dunn I think he needs to be given a position and a run of games, I'm not sure what that position is though.

Some nice points there, but I just worry that Sylvia doesn't get into position well and taller forwards will always do well on him. His run is ok as you said but this kind of move also has the potential to frustrate the guy. What happens if the coach decides nah we'll move him back up forward? - That would be wasted time that a junior defender could have used for development.. Stefan Martin comes to mind.

I thought he did reasonably well back there considering its the first time he's played in that position.
His composure off the half back line is also quite nice to have, because as we all know to well: turnovers at half back = opposition goal

Been saying for a while now that Sylvia should be off hbf, hope he gets four-five full games there, rather then a half here and there. He can use his skill the best in that position and really set up play by running through the lines and hitting targets. Got a good leap for spoiling too.
