Gday fella's :thumbsu:, just wondering how did Adam Bentick go? Will he keep his spot in the side, or will he be omitted for someone like Hartlet?

Straight swap for Gibbs

mate unfortunately bentick didn't perform... only got 40 points in dream team, (which isnt good at all). he will no doubt get dropped, though i wish it was otherwise. :(

I'd like to see Bentick stay but down_with_rangas is right, 40 DT is not enough for a middy, but did he get much game time?

No, there just isn't room for AB in the team anymore. Maybe for depth, but definitely not with our current midfield.

Judd - class of his own
Murphy, Stevens, Hadley, Kreuzer, Simpson, Gibbs, Carrazzo and Scotland...

I'd say he and Sir Richard play the same sort of role, and right now Hadley has been very, very good.

Oh come on, now we're judging games of DT points?

He didn't do enough and should be disappointed, given he had a golden opportunity with Gibbs out.

Damn! Poor bloke. He's above the rest in VFL and deserves to be in the 1's! Was he at least better than Russel?

I can't believe you're basing his game on Dreamteam... poor form :thumbsd:

he plays a similar game to hadley but looks shorter & slower. didn't look to be in the match most of the game but got a few handballs out to judd/scotland from in packs.

about a 'c'

Yeah I think he'll be replaced by Gibbs although may deserve a few goes, just doesnt seem to cover the ground well enough at AFL level...

Not a great deal of game time but when he was on he did his job alright.

Did a couple of nice in and unders which is his bread and butter but will go out for Gibbs.

Sadly, I think our new found game plan - doesn't bode well for AB.

He looked out of sorts yesterday - but then again, it was his first AFL hit out in a while.

Betnick looked a bit lost and didn't seem to attack the ball with the intensity he did in spots last year..

Is he injured? If Bentick ups his intensity he can be quite a good player, and his delivery at times into the forward 50 is alot better than Carrots.

I really can't see a spot for him anymore, especially with Hadley doing well as an inside mid. Only had around 50% tog yesterday as well.

Bentick is a good, honest go-er, and is well above average in tackling and clearance work.

He is, however, a very limited player. He doesn't have speed or skills to contribute much away from the pack, and there are many midfielders ahead of him now. Not fast enough to tag opposition stars.

He is a really solid depth player, but might also benefit from going to another team that NEEDS an inside midfielder, where he could contribute week-in, week-out.

So far we have had claims that pfieffer does more, although he had the same amount of possesions in 21% more game time, he was also only at a efficency rate of 64% compared to benticks of 100!

Hadley, although playing 30% more of the game only racked up 3 more disposals, 1 more clearence, and more clangers, and lets not forget that bentick was much more efficient!!

Yeh i did read that in the paper actually, had only 40% game time , thats just ridiculous.. N had 3 clearances 2 more than murphy, carrazzo and scotland.

Quality kid who will continue to fight for a spot. No one can question his committment.

Will probably go back for Gibbsy but his contested possesions, effectiveness and clearances compare very favourably for a man who only had 44% game time :thumbsu:

He came in for Hadley and played well.

I'll be amazed if he is dropped for Hadley next week.

20 possies and 11 tackles

I have no idea how people can ring up on the radio and bag him. Solid throughout the day and did well.

11 tackles is huge! Considering the closest player had 6 i think?

I'm not sure if he will suit Subiaco this week, but should play every game in Melb.....is definitely an important part of our future structure....

He is definitely running harder this year and has increased his speed after a pre-season injury.

He's tackling is super.....we don't need every player to have blistering pace and speed, we do need some players that are in and under and doing the hard and tuff stuff!

I wonder if the 11 tackles had anything to do with being second to the ball and laying a tackle on his man...mmm, interesting concept isn't it.

I was at the game and didn't rate his performance at all. That's looking at how he influenced each contest, not stats. Just my opinion.

because u have no clue, AB was very good today, did u ever think he was second to the ball because we got smashed in the hit outs, got smashed in the clearances, when u got a ruckman feeding the pill down your throat, its hard to get there before they do!

if you have no clue, and just have a biased opinion, then please don't post, you make a fool of not only yourself, but the Carlton board.

So you know me right? No, you don't. I'm not biased. I simply watched the game and expressed MY opinion: "An opinion is a person's ideas and thoughts towards something. It is an assessment, judgment or evaluation of something. An opinion is not a fact, because opinions are either not falsifiable, or the opinion has not been proven or verified". This was simply based on what I saw, not because I am a "hater" of any particular player.

But of course because you have a different opinion, you must be right? Don't tell me I am a disgrace to this board. I am not pushing my opinion onto anyone else or starting a thread about it.

Another interesting thing is how much you notice when you are looking for something. Ever come away from a game and are surprised to find out later how well an opposition player played - the same can be true of our own (ask BlueBear if I didn't miss Jammo's efforts against Richo LOL). I am AB's 'buddy' this year and can tell you it is true - sometimes we can be a little rose coloured in our vision but you definitely see things you would not otherwise (bit like watching your own kid's play)

Am a little surprised at the 11 ! tackles and plan to watch it again to see how influential they were but one thing I remember is that they were most definitely not just laid on his opponent and were often in pack/bounce situations where being second out of maybe six (beating all other Carlton players for openers) is not too bad, especially to a losing ruck.

Russell with 9
Browne with 6

I just thought he was great around the stoppages. Did well to hold the ball in considering the amount of ball that was being fed to the Adelaide rovers.
