Rotations are a bit annoying sometimes?

Last quarter ... we'd just worked out way back from 25pts to 7pts ... centre square bounce ... Wight, Addison and Boyd in the middle (correct me if wrong). Now these guys are great ... but, at that stage surely we needed to Coon, Griff and Cross front and square??

The result was 2 Tiger clearances, 2 quick goals back the other way ... the game almost lost ...

Enter Griff and Coon ... and bang, bang, bang ... it's a draw.

Perhaps we'd not have got those last three goals if they'd not had a rest ... maybe if they'd been on we'd have won?

If what your saying is correct you are right. However would you say that your only as good as your weakest players. We still need to expose these guys to this kind off pressure for them to grow. This season we are still teaching players how to play and we still need young players to be pushing for places in the team. Rather teach them now than in the finals.

Fair point, we probably needed the A team in there at that stage.
I'm sure there must have been a reason for it though. Not sure what!
Happy to have Boyd in there, i think Addison was tagging, Wight a bit suprising, think that was because Hudson was off and we needed Big Will to be a target for the bomb up forward.

Maybe they went 'bang, bang, bang' because they had been well rested on the bench and were ready to go when they came on ;)

I have not verified this but it is a hunch, our poor third quarters maybe coincide with the A Team being rested. Rotations are becoming just so crucial and this is an area where we are suffering from the loss of West, Ray, Higgins, Everitt etc at the moment. In the third Q Wight was on the ball, probably giving Hudson a rest on the bench and Will in the forward line. Hill is not strong enough for the centre square and Johnno is sore. I did see Eade being very stern with the ground level Board man against Essendon. Even the match-up boards and rotations need to be co-ordinated for optimal performance.

Hurry up Ray, West, Everitt and Higgins I say.

By the way, the last quarter vid of the Richmond game has entered the "must watch every 6 month" vault, if only for Nathan's delightful look of unabashed joy at winning (oops) over the dogs. Oh the horror Nathan.

It's all about timing -Collingwood beat West Coast in finals because and Glass had a rest at end of 3rd quarter and Pies kicked 3 goals in 3 minutes.

I think the momentum says keep the A team in when you are on a roll. Myself I would have swung Big Will in for that last bounce to get it out with his trademark big punch out in our direction - anyone could have then picked it up and forced a score.

That's my call too - Eade was holding them back for the final offensive.

But I must admit watching Wight ruck is a bit odd.

Rocket did the right move giving Addison an Wight a run in there.

Cooney had been chasing ass most of the day and seldom looked like catching it.

We generally looked like we lacked pace in the middle most of the day, not neccesarilly because our guys are that slow, but guy's like Foley are very quick.

We've had 2 poor 3rd quarters and 3 very good 3rd quarters.

Just goes to show we need another tall in like Skipper to share the ruck and rotate in the forward line.

I dont think so

We had two main ruckmen who held there own most of the day, Cam came in and did a bit late when we were having trouble getting clearances because our leg speed had dropped off.

He injected a bit of pace in their and held his own in his limited centre bounce contests.

I dont see any value in Skip rotating through the forward line currently, Will is going OK creating a big man contest down there.

And Cam Wight is going well as a backman occasional ruck, and from my memory Skip is not a great defender, and is a bit slower.

Absolutely. But, perhaps if they'd been on earlier there would have been no need for 'bang, bang, bang' - a simple 'bang and a half' would have sufficed.

One of the Richmond bang bangs you are talking about happened when they sought of won the clearance but Mitch Hahn came in from half forward to feircely and caused a turnover.
