As part of the Master Plan for the redevelopment of Skilled Stadium, should Geelong investigate the possibility of Installing Floodlights at Skilled Stadium to play Friday or Saturday night matches? This will lead to more exposure to Geelong and Skilled Stadium (especially Friday Night Football).
I doubt lights would ever be put in at Skilled Stadium.Theres already enough grounds to play night footy at.
You will lose the Melbourne crowd, who will watch it on the box rather than travel to Geelong and back for a night game.

I'd love to see night lights in at Skilled Stadium. In another thread I said that thay should do what they did at the Whitten Game where they brought lights in for only one game. It would be a real buzz to have just one night game a year in Geelong.
Here's the link anyway to the other thread I commented on this... http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43168

The biggest problem as Murph has already said here is that people who travel down from Melbourne would be disadvantaged by Geelong playing night games at Geelong. I think with Colonial Stadium/Telstra Dome and the MCG to stage night football in Victoria, there isn't a need for Geelong to install lights.

There is that good reason, and there is also the fact that many Geelong based Geelong supporters may not be able (or want) to attend the night games in Melbourne in particular parents with younger children as the night would be too long. If there was a 50/50 balance of night games in Geelong and Melbourne it would be fair for all.

catattack,
What about the people who live in the suburbs and have to travel a distance just to get to Colonial and the MCG?? For me personally, it takes about 50 minutes on the train to get into the city, then a further 1 hour to get to Geelong. I do it because I love the Geelong Football Club, but to me the happy middle ground is the MCG and Colonial.

Yer I suppose that wherever the games are played it would be hard for some people to get to. People in the outer suberbs of Melbourne would find it takes to long to get to Geelong for night games, and prefer the Melbourne games. Where as people who live in Warnambool would prefer the Geelong night game, rather than the Melbourne night game. So either way it would disadvantage some, and advantage others. But I still believe that we should get at least one night game in Geelong every year with the temporary lights.

catattack,
Ah yes well I will discuss this matter with my fellow ministers and launch a full enquiry into the situation, the results to be reported back to me via a sub-committee at a later date.
