If you had to pick one based on importance to Carlton who would you go for?

Waitey ATM although Fish is my favourite player.:thumbsu:
Harsh poll as we are so desperate for back's at the moment.
Other than that i think they have equal value, but on different end's of the ground

Waite is by far more imprortant.
Both awesome, but different types of players. Fisher is a highly talented KP forward type, who is simply outstanding overhead in heavily contested pack situations. He has a freakish ability to time his leap and read the flight of the ball better than anyone else. He's also pretty quick, and is excellent at ground level. This year he often pushes up to the wing, and provides a link option. Waite is more of a mercurial type of player. He is basically an oversized 194cm midfielder, with the capability of playing a true KP role. His leap is outstanding, and probably the best in the AFL. He is a naturally attacking player, who is adjusting to his new role at CHB. Still produces a couple of shocking defensive clangers each game, but this is offset by his outstanding ability to setup attacking plays from the back half. Just an awesome talent. So who is better? I can't decide. Would be great to have both in your team. :)

Now, take your hand off it and tell us what you really think of them!
.. tell us what you really think ...
I know the Cats don't have any top-shelf KP forwards. This is a weakness, that they got away with last year because of the poor quality of the top-8 in 2007. I suspect you know this, hence your reaction. :)

Neither would be in hawthorns best 22.
Neither would be in hawthorns best 22.
I agree with that.
I also think that Waite would struggle to get a game in say 5 other teams. However I cant think fo any team that would be rushing to secure the services of fisher.

Except Hawthorns.
St Kilda's
Geelongs.
you know, the good teams. Handy pair, but both second tier KPP's, each club has a better backman+forward. and a lot have two better forwards+backs.

Yes of course, bcause if Dew can get a game for you, as if a great utility player, or forward with one of the best hand in the AFL could get a run
You guys are good, you are by no means perfect in every position.
agree although Fisher would be very handy for saints on a flank.
Would you pick Roughead for example in your forwardline before Fisher and Waite?
Would you pick Schinder (spl?) ahead of Fisher and Waite in th Forwardline?
Would you pick Hawkins ahead of them both?
Supporters tend to over-emphasize the mid-tier players when they are winning games, because they are made to look better. Don't fall into the same trap.

Waite would be starting CHB at both Geelong and St Kilda right now. Probably Hawthorn to but at worst would get a gig in a forward pocket.

Best 22 includes injured, not "avalable 22"
Egan/Mcguire>>>>>>>>>>>>Waite
and whos fisher/waite going to replace? our one true crummer, or the small forward whos capable of kicking 60 a year?

delirious is fitting for you you absolute spastic.
fisher and waite would 100% get a gig in hawthorns side, and highly likely geelongs side too. cant wait to see the cattas towel up the hawks when they play.

His leap is outstanding, and probably the best in the AFL.
Bigger than Hampson's?
Fisher plays harder and plays to his best. Waite wastes his talent.

Whilst Carlton improve over the next few years i think you will see how much these players are underated (mostly Fish though).

spastic? nice word.
In our current forward set-up where would fisher replace? Williams, Roughead Rioli or Franklin?
Fisher/Waite are neither power forwards who smash packs, or small leading forwards or small crummers. so neither would get a gig. is this soo hard to understand?

Waite and Fisher are a lot lot more talented than Roughead and Boyle - both of whom were up for trade you'll recall. :)

Waite would get a game over Williams and Boyle any day of the week. There would also be stron competition between him and Roughead. He would also get a game in defence over Croad and Gilham easily.
You would make room for a Brad Fisher in your forward line also, a spot on the bench at least.
Jarrad Waite would get a gig in any team's starting 18 in this competition, anybody who says otherwise has absolutely no idea about football or hasn't seen him play. He would be one of the better performing CHB's this year and regardless would get given a game on potential alone because he is capable of lighting a game up.
Brad Fisher would almost definitely get a gig in most sides.
Just because Carlton have been shit doesn't mean we don't have any good players, Waite and Fisher are good footballers.

If you had asked me this last year i would have said Fisher.
But now Waite has taken a step up - something that we have been waiting for him to do for a long time. I'd take him ahead of Fisher easily now.
