There a source for that Goal Sneak?
Good news if true, deserves the chance to prove himself.
Neitz on Footy Classified. On the LTerm injury list, 8 weeks atm. Haven't heard about Valenti, but should be a certainty. God he deserves it

Will be good to see how he goes, been a big fan of his work at VFL level.
don't think there's been any confirmation on shane's promotion yet, only that neita will be on the long term injury list... you'd think this implies shane will getting promoted though...
and if he is, I'd select him this week...

If it aint shane the shite will hit the fan!!! Knowing our philosophies on things we will say :"ummm we have just lost a key foward we now need another dont we? ummm lets promote trent zomer".
i swear if that happens i will be pissed.

Sorry melbourne fans for comming into ur board. This is probably for supercoach but many fans would also want to know as well. What happens when Jack Grimes comes off the long term injury list, who will have to go down to the rookies, wone or valenti?

Zomer isn't even playing in the Sandy 1st's, so you wouldn't be the only one to crack it.

I hope they promote Valenti. The kid is a freak ball magnet, much in the same mold as Sam Mitchell. I really do hope they don't try and unleash another big man to replace Neita, the big guy Stefan Martin is a few years off AFL standard after playing b-ball in his junior days.
But if they don't bring a big guy in who is going to steady up their foward line? Valeti isn't much of a goalkicker......

Only reason Netiz is going on the long term injury list is because if he retires they are unable to promote a rookie. Smart move by the dees.

Plus he'd want to play at least one last game to have the massive send off that the champ deserves!

We dont have to replace a like for a like. So we do not need a big man to fill Nieta's shoes. Bate is yet to come in, dunn can go forward and even Holland can come in and do a job. Valenti is easily our best choice and needs to be promoted.

I suppose that will totally depend on what we get out of Valenti. If he's showing lots of promise and fits into our side better than Aussie then it's obvious what will happen. But from this point it would be just guess work.

damn. somehow had this idea (i know) that you guys wouldn't see the forest for the trees, and Shane would head back into the draft next year.
For mine one of the best rookie selections of the last few years - I expect him to do big things for you over the next 8 weeks.

if he has been promoted. he is lining up this week.
It would make no sense for the club to promote him (pay him extra money) and then not use him.
When/if Neitz hypothetically comes back to play does that mean we have to drop a player off the senior list to facilitate that too?

I have not read or heard any confirmation that Valenti has been promoted - is this thread factual or just a guess? If its factual where has it been reported and why haven't the Dees announced anything publically?

Sorry guys i heard on 3aw that Valenti had been promoted. Have not seen any news article of it since though, so it is safe to say that he is yet to be promoted. Hopefully he is prior to this match, as he would be a handy inclusion.

I was lucky enough to see Valenti at Draft camp and the kid is good. He will be strong off the wing or Half Forward.

Yeah it seems like he is a pretty tough guy. But that's a good thing for us. Has Maric been promoted yet or will they be competing for the same spot i've heard a lot about Maric being the next big thing for us. Mind you i think we have a lot of good young players coming up. Surprised Pettrd hasn't had more of a go or is he injured? Perhaps one of them could have Buckleys contract. I'm not his biggest fan.

Maric isn't a rookie, he can come into the team at any time. That said it would be nice to see Maric, Valenti, Martin and Meesen all in the team

I think Martin will strong but just needs a season to get into it a bit and get his body right. He hasn't been playing footy long and to play AFL could be a bit disheartening for him if he gets towelled up or hurt. Looks Good though and does'nt miss at goal.

Just had a thought. I remember somebody putting up a thread about a nickname for our defensive 6. How about the 'Rat Pack' lead by Stefan 'Dean' Martin? hmmm it is kind of shit isn't it :o oh well time for a few beers I think.

I think Maric is the obvious replacement, the kid is a goal kicker. I've seen a lot of him through junior footy and you lot have something to look forward to. Valenti also looks very promising

Great reward for one of the VFL's best players in recent seasons.
Hopefully he gets some games for the Demons soon.

Pity you guys couldn't do anything with Ezra Poyas's career because i believe he is the best VFL player playing atm.. just he doesn't have age on his side
Valenti will be the next Sam Mitchell.
i'm interested to see that come from a hawthorn supporter... he does have a lot of similarities with mitchell... do you think he will become a player near the same class of mitchell?

Says that leadership group will discuss it Wednesday (tomorrow/today). Not certain anyone will be elevated (obviously only will be done when the rookie is about to be selected), but Valenti would most likely be the one to be elevated if someone is.

Well if the "next Sam Mitchell" can't get a game in the current Demons side at the moment who the bloody hell can?
Can they just promote him already, he is quite easily the next best player to be promoted onto the list. IMO he should be getting a game some time soon.

I don't understand why Bailey is persisting with this aged side. We need to get some youngsters in there to inject more enthusiasm!
I'm still surprised Wonnaeamirri was promoted before him. Valenti was in fine form over pre-season and that form hasn't diminshed from what I've heard during the Sandy season. Give him a run, god knows Spencer and Zomer aren't ready. What is the point of naming Neitz on the LT injury list if we're not going to promote anyone.

You do have a point but it releases Green to play forward. We have struggled in the clearances, especially last week, and Valenti is rather handy at getting his hands on the footy so I think the kid deserves a crack!

I don't understand why Bailey is persisting with this aged side. We need to get some youngsters in there to inject more enthusiasm!Enthusiasm and youth is great but Valenti is an inside midfielder with McDonald, McLean and Jones for competition. I suspect it wouldn't be wise to play those 3 and Valenti in the same side unless they were in ripping form, so Valenti needs to be knocking the door down to get a game and I suspect he will, but it shouldn't be this week.

Not sure if I agree with that one. How many "midfielders" do Geelong have? Share the load, both in time and territory.
Can't say I've seen him play, but christ we should be trying anything and everything at the moment, and if he's half as good as what I've heard give himi a go.

It depends on whether or not he has the determination that Sam has/had. Sam was a ball-magnet within his own right when he played for Box Hill, but some of his skills were lacking. He's arguably the best trainer going around at Hawthorn now - and his exquisite skills are the result of that.
If Valenti can do the same, I don't see why he can't do the same thing.

Wonaeamirri is exactly what your team needed (forward line pressure) and has been a great inclusion, one of very few postives.
While I love Valenti, you already have Mclean, Jones, Mcdonald and Moloney as slow in and under guys.... Moloney might get dropped for a player like Valenti as I would love to see him in, he will be the next Sam Mitchell.
Two outstanding rookie pick ups in their first years.
Gotta admit, while im not jealous of Melbournes current situation I am of their future... Morton, Wonaeamirri, Valenti, Mclean, Sylvia, Bate, Rivers, Maric, Grimes and prob (sorry) Natanui as you will finish last. Exciting times ahead.
