voted 06, looks like a great bunch.
Clearly 2004
Edit: Should have noted I went for 2005 due to my player bias, but 2006 was great as well. Now if only we can get Gumby onto the park...

i went for 2005, as we got our future CHB/Ruckman/Dynamo/Star player, Running HBF, Full Forward, In-and-Under Midfielder, plus two very handy running indigenous players in Lovett and Lovett-Murray.
2006 is well-documented, however, and could prove to be the core of our midfield and star CHF.

I voted 06 with 05 a very close second.
07 shouldn't be in there. Way too early. Could turn out real good with a Full Back, some classy mids and some talls.

Its really too early to tell how the 06 draft went too, yet its leading the pack. I assume people are voting on potential and not on results with this one.

Not much in it but 2006 is slightly in front of 2005 for me.
2006 for me. i said it the day we picked them, and i'll say it again. those 5 could all play 200 games for essendon.
Oh, go look at our 2000 - 2001 drafts. the are so so SO bad

Watson should be bolded in the 02 draft.

I voted 2005 because they're the most proven to this point but there is no doubt that the 06 draft will probably be the best from the lot

Ryder is the sole reason i voted for '05.

Lovett and NLM were actually drafted in 2003 weren't they?
With that in mind, on performances to date alone it's -
2003
2002
2006
2005
2004
2007

yeah they were rookie drafted in 2003, however only promoted to the senior list in 2005. (lovett-murray did play in 2004 though).
those draft lists are straight from the essendon website.

05 or 06. Lots of talent there.

I went 03,
Standton, Dyson key midfielders of the future.
Nash is my favourite player :)
Johns wasn't given enough games in a row to show how good he can be.
WTF happened to Haynes though?
I've always wondered, because the few games I saw him play he was wonderful.
Lovett and Natrat should be included in 2003, as that was when they were drafted to the club.
On potential 05 and 06 are very close, and could form the core to our next tilt at a premiership (07 is too early to tell).
2003 would be the best so far, as longy said, on performance. Stanton, Dyson, Nash, Lovett, Lovett-Murray have all play a fair few games with good performances mixed in.

as i've said, these lists are straight from the essendon site, but i'll get onto fixing that one up.

"What year will prove to be the greatest in Essendon's recent history?"
Yeah, the idea was to vote on what you thought WILL be the best draft, not on results so far.

1992 Not getting a run?
1991.. We drafted Alessio, Misiti, Mercuri and Hird all in the same draft didn't we?

Nope, we drafted Hird in 1990 I'm pretty sure.
The others all came via zoning.

Your spot on with all counts me thinks now. Hird missed his first season with a knee I think.

Ahh the good old days of zoning....
I remember two years ago comparing our dafts years and thinking the recent ones we performed better....looking back now my mind has changed.
I just hope the hype of the 06 draft materialises to be as decent as everyone hopes.

I honestly think it could be 2008. Zaka, Hurley and Prismall will all be very good players from what we have seen so far. And who knows Still might be very good too. But at this stage based purely on performance, 2005. On potential, 2006.

Interesting to have a look back now. I don't think there is any doubt that the mob from 2005 is currently ahead of the others. 2006 should be given time, as most players from that draft have had/have lengthy injuries, hindering their development.
