I believe he left the club in acrimonious circumstances at the end of 04 (?), only to sue the club a year later for something to do with his knee.
Though I could have it all wrong and could be thinking of someone else ...

Well, if you look on our website, he still probably is.
But then again, so are Dunstall, Jarman, James Hird, Gary Ablett Snr and PICCIONE!.

I believe that is right. Caused some friction between Don Scott and the Club with claims we didn't treat Doug's injury properly, hence the reason for suing. He also was threatening to take back some of his personal memorabilia he donated to the Hawks museum. Not sure if he went through with this.
At least that's what I remember. What the end result was I don't know, I'm sure I would of missed it up here with the lack of AFL coverage.
I did a bit of a search on Google and discovered what he's up to now. Apparently he plays for the Karingal Football Club. Found a reference to him winning the League B&F in 2007 there and the quote "Doug came directly to Karingal FC from Hawthorn at the end of Season 2005 and has been a stand out both years for the Bulls especially in the back half."

So it looks like his injury wasn't football ending for him as he's gone on to play quite well by the sounds of things for Karinga.

from memory , he had fractures in his leg and was mis-diagnosed by our shoddy medical staff at the time .. they pumped him full of painkillers and sent him out to play , making his injury worse. Later scans revealed his fractures, which sidelined him for the rest of the season.
He did claim compensation .. not sure if it was medical negligence or loss or earning.

His carrer was ruined by a knee injury which meant that he never actually played a game. He was delisted at the end of 2005. For some reason Clarkson decided to keep him for one more year.
Not sure if it's actually true but he apparently tried to sue the club for urging him to have what turned out to be unnecessary knee surgery, putting him out for almost 2 years and which never really recovered from. I'm just guessing that he would have said that the surgery cost him a carrer.
He was 25-years-old and had not played 1 game.
