I voted buddy as he is the player i would rather have at the crows but i think at there best, judd is the better/more damaging player. I hope he can reach the dizzy heights we knw he can (once again) and win another brownlow to truly entrench his legacy.
Two of the very best. And to think that buddy is only 21. Legend in the making.

Judd will be totally injury free

Both superstars.
However, Buddy is going to a place no footballer has ever gone.
Could very easily become the greatest player ever by 25.

Should have made the poll where we can see who voted for who.
I reckon Carlton and Hawthorn people will vote for there respective players.
I'd take Buddy, but shit Judd was good again on the weekend. Turned the game on its head.

i think we've seen the best of judd though, he's very consistent and has probably reached the height of his powers, whereas buddy is still lacking polish and has gone up a level from last year, still improving . . . whatever happens with him, he'll go down in history as an excitement machine.

Judd has the runs on the board - Brownlow, Premiership Captain, AA, Best and Fairest etc...Buddy will need to prove himself for more than 1 season to be in the same league as an elite player like Judd.
Yes I may be bias but I would take 24 year old Judd..The bloke who said he is past his best has got to be a joke. AFL footballers peak in their mid to late 20's...Judd is only going to get better.
Buddy is going to be a superstar but is yet to win anything(Brownlow,Norm Smith or Premiership)..yes he has had a good 5 games to start this year and a few last year but he is yet to be consistently gamebreaking like Judd has been.
Will Buddy do all this in the next few years? I hope not..I hope Judd wins the premiership and brownlow..
There I go being biased again :)
i'm not biased at all, as i get aroused (ha, in a football sense) watching either of these two players play.
i'd say judd though; he's far more consistent, can take the game by the scruff of the neck from anywhere on the field (from centre-bounces, or floating back, or up forward to ice a game with his attack and running goals).
buddy is a freak though.

buddy at the moment considering judd is injured. if judd gets back to his best i expect him to rival what buddy is producing at the moment...although i think franklin has much improvement left in him so by the time is back to full fitness buddy may have taken his game to a new level.
i voted for franklin.

True, to be officially stamped as a gun i guess you have to get certain accolades, Buddy hasn't even got an All-Australian yet . . . having said that, i don't think Judd deserved his NormSmith that year and he certainly got at least one Ross Glendinning medal that he didn't earn.

Armchair expert aye?
Judd has experience success both induvidually and as part of a team.
While there is no doubt Buddy is an awesome talent and will be a great player for years to come, I think the media over-hype and outrageous comparisons (Ablett/Jordan/Carey) have seen Buddy become grossly over-rated on BF. Until Buddy produces more than 12 months of elite level football, I would still say he is a fair way away from becoming a Judd type superstar.
If I had a choice of either player at my club id take buddy 10 times out of 10 although i could be biased.

If i had the choice right now between judd or buddy at the carlton football club id go buddy. The only reason is we are in desperate need of KKP and he is a gun and only 21. But the best player well who knows? They are different types of players...

Also it's harder to dominate as a fullforward then it is to do in the middle.
Judd will never be better then what he was at the eagles, he may be that good again but not better.

Must be hard for a 6'6 monster to dominate! When he is quick off the lead, great over head and great when the ball hits the deck.
How can you say he wont be better? He has just come back from injury.
Essendon - 32 disposals 2 goals 4 tackles
Collingwood - 26 disposals 7 tackles
Melbourne - 26 disposals 3 goals 5 tackles
And he is still not 100% fit.
Stupid comment he has played 5 games this year.

He's saying that he won't be better than he was at the Eagles, he'll be as good as, but won't reach any NEW LEVELS. Not saying that he's not returning to form.
He's saying that he won't be better than....
I think the problem you're having is that you want to say Franklin is the best player in the AFL, but you know deep down that Judd is the best footballer in the competition easily. :)

^True franklin still has lots of room for improvement, however i dont think judd is 'past his best'. I do agree that he has probably reached the height of his powers, which is a remarkable height, but 'past his best' means that he has reached his best form and isn't able to recapture it because he is past it. In my opinion, Judd can maintain his stellar form for another good 4 years (barring injuries)

BUDDY by a country mile then the rest, when an opposition supporter is looking forward to watching a hawks game purely to see what buddy might do you know there u have not only the most exciting player but the best in the league. Too bad carlton spent half their salary cap for judd thinking he was the best to only last a month into the season. buddy to the hawks is worth quarter of judd to the blues. sorry u just have to laugh:D

yup, it's premature to say he's past his best, doomsayers and tall poppy syndrome people say he'll never be as good as hair-judd . . . maybe if he did a knee, but it's only a groin operation.
G.Ablett is the best player in the AFL, i watched the game against Sydney and in the 4th qtr he was unbelievable.

coming back to playing his best you mean
I have seen alot of carlton play this year, being at the games he does not seam to control the game like he used to. He just seams to be another brilliant midfielder, in the same group as many more. Gary Jnr is the new Judd.

Should i follow the trend and just go for the player that plays in my team??????????
Its stupid.
Also silly to say he is becoming one of the best players of all time??????
Your kidding me right...
Granted he is turning it on but to say that is just premature.
The word superstar is just thrown around these days every good player is a superstar.

Don't even use the KPP arguement, as Buddy would be a better midfielder than Judd and win the brownlow in there, but he he is more valuable as a forward kicking....

How can you compare a gun midfielder with a gun full forward? All you will get on this thread is biased opinions from Carlton and Hawthorn supporters. Opinions from other clubs supporters will pretty much be based on what their team lacks. i.e West coast needing a kpp in Buddy.
