Sorry for another Hawthorn thread...
It seems to me that Hodge is the flashy one who gets all the attention, but Mitchell does all the engine room work. Both great players in a strong Hawks midfield, but who would you prefer in your team?

A hard choice but I would go Hodge.............. much more damaging with the ball.

Hodge.
Wouldn't say more flashy, but more talented. Also, whilst Mitchell is our best clearance player, Hodge is our best GRUNT player.

From what I have seen this year, Mitchell. He is equal leading my Brownlow voting atm.

I think Mitchell is brilliant. Have always beleieved he is a superb player. His clearance work is top class.
It's not that i don't rate Hodge, they're both A grade footballers, however I personally prefer Mitchell.

Love them both. Went with Mitchell for consistency, he has less down days then Hodge and clearances help win modern football games ;)

hodge kicks goals, sam doesn't, hodge is faster, stronger, blablabla, better kick, better mark, better leader, better extractor of the football, better footy brain, hodgehodgehodge, if he was consistent he'd be the player of the competition.

Both players have a single key weakness imo. Mitchell lacks defensive accountability, while Hodge can sometimes go missing. If both see allot of the ball, then Hodge is more damaging, but Sam is consistantly very good.
Hodge is more versitile though.

Surprising Hodge has pulled away a bit IMO I would much prefer Mitchell, watch him take the brownlow this year:thumbsu:

Hodge can do everything that Mitchell can do but is way more damaging by foot.
I love Sammy Mitchell as a player but Hodge is clearly the better of the two.

Mitchell is so much better around packs. Not saying that Hodge cant but Mitchell is the best clearance player in the game.
