I think that Jordan Lewis is better although i would prefer Cooney because there is little difference skill wise but Jordan Lewis gets suspended too often.

Different types of players. Lewis is a hard nut who get's plenty of the ball and uses it well. Cooney is more explosive and more of a match winner.

12 months ago I may have said Lewis but Cooney has gone up a couple of levels this year and areas of his game he was not renowned for (tackling and second efforts) are now features of his game.

Cooneys a better player, but Lewis plays better . . . both are prolific goal kicking midfielders, coonsters gone up another level this year, go cooney for his pace.

Hodge is eating Lewis' dust, Lewis is a massive stat getter and prolific goal kicking midfielder.

I'd still say Cooney though.

Cooney "JUST"
had a year more on the list however.

Lewis has peaked, he's a player that gets the most out of himself, and i think he has . . . having said that, his best is very very good, so no worries there. Coonsta however can absolutely tear a game to shreds.

Cooney has been our best player this year and would be right up there in the brownlow. He's top 10 in the league for contested poissesions and is able to run with the ball and kick goals

Cooney by a mile. One of the best in the game.

I know i'm alone here but as a package i'd take Jordy Lewis anyday of the week, the boy is as tough as nails even thoe prone to doing the odd stupid thing, he kicks goals & wins plenty of it, i'd say he has the potential to be hawthorns best mid in years to come.

Cooney I guess, although he stands out a lot more where Lewis has a lot of teammates around the ball who are stars.

Happy with Lewis - goes in hard and racks up the stats.

Cooney needs more consistancy. At times he can go quiet, especially if the dogs are struggling.

Still pretty even with Lewis, only because Lewis has had 1 year less.

Cooney is the better player and will soon become one of the best in the AFL.

How come two people have mentioned Lewis as a goal kicking midfielder? 22 in 65 games hardly classes him as a goal kicking midfielder. Cooney is much much much more dangerous around goal then Lewis.

Cooney pretty easily...he has a healthy dose of matchwinning class about him, whereas Lewis appears to be more of a blue-collar hard worker (not that there's anything wrong with that, he's getting the best out of his ability).

You gotta go with Cooney on this one. Lewis is a workhorse who gets allot of the ball (very Scott West), while Cooney seems to be more of a 'punish you with every kick' kind of player, (a little like Hodge in that matter).

Agreed. Cooney has turned several games as a lead up forward and averages a goal a game ( has kicked bags of 4 or 5 at times). Lewis suits Hawks style and is one of the bunch at Hawks. Cooney is set to become our midfield leader with his clearances, burst of speed and ball use. Coon for me.
