I know it's already Wednesday, so yes, I probably should 'get over it', but believe it is an absolute disgrace I didn't see it mentioned once on any footy show, or by any paper, OR by anyone on this board (I apologise if you have though!).
It was from further out than Buddy's long goal FFS!! And it was with only a short time left! AND it sealed the game!!

Brilliant is all that comes to mind. Hodgey is an absolute champion. Exactly what you want in a player. Sublime skills, tough, hard and a leader on field.

Hodge no longer is the ratings winner for the Hawks. That mantle has moved onto Franklin, with rioli clinging onto the bottom rungs.
The media outlets are not going to show that because of the Fact Hodge does not = ratings, whilst franklin and Rioli do.
the same would go for Riewoldt kicking a goal from 70, and then Fisher kicking one from the same position after shrugging a tackle...
It is all about ratings and $$$ for the media outlets

Get over it mate. While the world focuses on Buddy, players like Hodge step up to the plate and do whats gotta be done.
Thats what champs do. And they do it in a style that mostly goes unnoticed.
Last week it was a handpass in the centre that mere mortals have no right to thread throught the traffic, but Hodge did it.
He does something brilliant every week. Some of us just watch fot it, and when it comes we just sigh.
Now go to sleep and be fresh for next week.

I loved Hodgey's goal, probably my favourate moment in the match but it was overshadowed by Buddy's performance.
I thought Hodge's goal was great. He had an average night and then did something extraordinary - he is a true champ (and a great choice at No. 1 in 2001). But Franklin deserved the focus - he was brilliant.
What I love about Hawthorn now is the depth and the number of players contributing. As mentioned above Buddie and Rioli are getting all the media focus, but Hodge, Mitch, Sewell, Roughy, Croad, Brown, Birch, etc. etc. etc. just go out there and get the job done.
It's a great time to be a Hawk fan.

It was great to see him nail that ..he along with Young are good field kicks but when they get around the 50 mark their kicks are normally skewed. So hopefully he has a lot more coming.
Just on the kick, he kicked it from around 60m out and it sailed through the goals hitting the boardings at the back.
One thing I noticed was how far some of our players can now kick...since when could Sewell start kicking goals from outside 50m off a couple of steps?

No. 24 - I am really concerned about your heart - as long as you are fresh and have plenty of marshmellows, Hodgey will do his thing each week and we all will be happy:thumbsu:
