Franklin and Ablett = two best footballers in the game
Franklin & Ablett if you want players who have longer in them.
Brown and Judd if you want the "safer" choice. Brown & Judd win out easily in the leadership stakes obviously.
You compare the best of the more recent past with the best of the current game. Today to say no to Gazz and Buddy would be a silly choice. But how about buddy and Gazz today VS Brown and Judd 2 or 3 years ago? Now that would be close.

Brown and Judd have the runs on the board and have been dominant for more than 1 and a bit seasons.
That gives them the nod in my books.

Have you even watched a game this season?
Franklin is clearly the #1 forward in the competition while Brown has failed to regain his dominant form from last season and is probably only currently a very good player at best.
Ablett vs Judd at the moment is a no contest, though Judd is looking better every game. Ablett may have quite possibly played the best game for a midfielder from quite some time against the Swans last week.

Franklin may have a say in that.
Gee its a tough one, Both Franklin and Ablett are in blistering form, but we know how good Judd and Brown can be. So for mine not becasue Judd is playing for us, id have to say Brown and Judd, only because they have been there and done that only.

Starting from now, Franklin and Ablett no question. The 2 best players in the comp at the moment.
Ok for all those who have chosen the recent history pair. At the end of the season we will compare the 2 choices and I think you might find the Buddy and Gazz should beat your choice in every department.

i reckon franklin is the last player i would choose out of these four..the reason being i beleive ablett, brown and judd are all better team players but franklin on the other hand lacks in this department..
franklin has kicked 29 goals 17 this year..and im not sure how many he has missed altogether..and of all the ball hes had..he has only had one goal assist..
now i havnt watched many of hawks games this year and if these misses are from set shots which he has been instructed to go for all the time..like fev has been..i guess that would be okay..but if maybe if he had dished off a few more the hawks might be an even better looking outfit then they are now..
correct me if i am wrong in any way hawks fans if these stats are wrong or something..
cheers..

Believe it or not, Franklin does give it off and has worked up the ground a bit.
However, he usually gets the ball where he can shoot on goal so he does. He's not the type of player you want to tamper with when he is scoring.

I think you might find the Hawks coaching department are proud of buddy this year for his team play more so then his goal kicking most of all. In the past however you would have been correct

You would be pretty strong whoever you chose but I went for Brown and Judd only because they have been better over the long term. Love Buddy and Ablett as well
Judd is still a much better player than Ablett is

Going by your theory Fevola and bradshaw are better than brown which is totally wrong.
You are also saying that by one game Ablett is by far a better player than Judd. Dont know how you can say its a no contest.

Even Abletts first 4 games have been brilliant, However his game last week against Sydney was unbelievable. Judds gonna have to make up ground to be better than Ablett.

I voted for Buddy and Ablett, not because I'm a Geelong supporter and am biased towards Ablett, but because I would far prefer to have Buddy in my forward line to Brown - if I was starting a team from scratch. Brown is an A-grade foward, though I've never bought into the instinctive, mass appreciation phenomenon that appears to have some people convinced he will be regarded as highly as Carey by the time he retires. Sure he has the Carey swagger, and can win a game of his own boot, though he is not a once in a generation player. He's only ever been AA once, and he largely owes his 3 premierships to 10 or 12 other players. Franklin will be a once in a generation player by the time he retires.
All things being equal with respect to injury and form, Judd is better than Ablett; but Ablett is good enough for me to overlook this in favour of having Franklin.
