I don't like this one.

Hawthorn has won the opening five matches of the season for just the sixth time in the club’s history. The previous five occasions were 1971, 1975, 1976, 1984 and 2001.

On the first four of those occasions, the Hawks then lost in Round 6 - to Footscray in 1971, Carlton in 1975 and 1976 and Richmond in 1984.

Hope we can get up this week and carry on winning.

Just found this one as well.

The last time the Hawks and Tigers clashed in Round 6 was in 2004 in a game which resulted in a heartbreaking one point defeat – 13.5.83 to 12.12.84.

.

With due respect, boric, the 2008 model Hawks is not and far from the superceded 1971, 1975, 1976 and 1984 models.

As the last poster said very different unit. Should beat the Tigers but only if they don't get ahead of themselves. They need to FOCUS on the Tigers and plan on how to smash them. Don't pencil it in just yet. Focus and Destroy Hawks!

When playing Tattslotto, do you put in last weeks winning numbers as well?

It's history - something to be proud of, nothing to be scared of.

I think maybe you need to look at it differently boric, If i am right all are years when we made the GF with the exception of 2001 where we lost the Prelim by a kick and a bit, and the sequence, 1971 - Won GF, 1975 - Lost GF, 1976 - Won GF, 1984 - Lost GF, 2008 - ???? GF, by that sequence we are due to win the GF... lol if only it was that easy!....

Yeah but this is Richmond were playing.

As the above post says were a 4 in 5 chance of playing in the GF and a 2 in 5 chance of winning the flag.

That means we have won 5 flags without winning the first 5 games. Cool.

This team of hawks are the cream of the crop !!

That was the game where Ritchie failed to make the distance from 45-50m out. Dark days....for both sides from memory.....it was the week after Danny got spat on.

pretty good stats there boric..

i have some friends who are tigers fans and they are very modest people, some times i give it to them a bit too much...:p

anyway i,m not worried about past stats, but hawthorn will go through a rough patch sooner or later and we have to try and maintain our consitancy..

its not that we get upset boric, but over the year stats have always been not in our favour..

these are the only stats i care about.

beating brisbane at the gabba for the 1st time since 2000, or having given the crows their biggets belting since geelong beat them in 2006.

winning our 1st 5 games to start the season of for the 1st since 2001. winning our 1st final in 2007 for the 1st time since 2001..

buddy being our 1st foawrd to kick 100 goals in a season since jason dunstall..

stats dont always say how a side realy is traveling..

Stats are funny things. You can pull all the stats you have out of your arse to prove just about anything. But at the end of the day, it doesn't mean shit when our two sides meet on Sunday.

Reading ANYTHING into stats like that is like believing what horoscopes have to say is true or taking a tarot card reading as to who is going to win on Sunday. Comon be real.

I hope that you don't buy those books that analyse the Tatts numbers and try to predict what is going to happen in the future.....
