Before this year I would have said Cooney but Murphy might overtake him. Now after 5 games, Cooney is streets ahead. Has really turned into a gamebreaker and between him and Griffen the Bullies have 2 of the better goal kicking mids in the game.

Will Parrot choose Gibbs or Kruezer?

cleary its MArc Murphy, way ahead of what Cooney was after 2 years and 5 games. In ten years time it will be,
Gibbs
Murphy
Kreuzer
Cooney
Delidio
very will be very little separating the first 3

Cooney is fast becoming one of the most overrated footballers running around. I think Kruezer, followed by Deledio & gibbs.

I think it can basically go in order of years taken in my opinion.
Cooney is clearly the best talent there. Deledio > Murphy > Gibbs > Kreuzer just about speaks for itself.
Note that Kreuzer has played about 2 games, so we are yet to see enough to think he'll be better than anybody else taken at Number 1.

i can't believe how terribly biased this looks but it's my honest opinion. almost impossible to compare so many potential champions but it's my honest opinion:
1-gibbs: extremely smart pure footballer, super tackler, great one-precenters, great at the clearances, super right foot kick, incredible evasive skills, outstanding leadership, versatile, just has all the attributes of a star footballer. imo will be the best player in the comp in about 4 or 5 years.
2-murphy: already a star. courageous, super pass, great footy brain, great at the clearances, great tackler, can't ask for any more from someone his age. only weakness is probably the penetration in his kicking but that's not a major concern and won't affect his game too much. will captain carlton to multiple premierships.
3-kreuzer: very rare breed of footballer. he's effectively going to be a superstar midfielder who can ruck. excellenet footy brain, unbelieveable mobility, good kick, great set shot, good mark, great endurance, incredible work ethic. he will be unstoppable when he hits his peak.
4-cooney: can't believe i have him so low as i rate him really highly. has all the attributes to be a superstar midfielder. great take off speed, acceleration, kicking, good at the clearances, kicks plenty of goals will dominate the comp in a few years time. only criticism i have of him is his defensive side and a little bit of selfishness. but when you're as good as him you can get away with those things.
5-deledio: don't believe he will be in the same league as the above 4 but could still become a good solid player. like his versatility, but is more of an athlete than a footballer. has a nice kick on him and is beautiful to watch when he has the ball in space. really needs to lift his work ethic i know he's a really hard trainer but needs to bring that to the football field and needs to win more contested footy.

Shouldn't Deledio be ahead of Murphy, Gibbs and Kreuzer right now? ;) :o
I'm not going to vote because I'd love to have all five playing for my team. :thumbsu:
I'll set for three of them. :D
However, Deledio is the worst midfielder of the five number one picks in this poll.

Deledio has been the best performed this year.
Never wastes a possession.
And he has been getting a fair bit of the pill as well

A good player, but just not in the same talent class as the other 4 I'm afraid. :)

I think Murphy will be the best, and Gibbs the worst.
Murphy has everything as a midfielder whilst aside from good skills I don't see what Gibbs has to offer.
Murphy will be the best
Followed by Cooney, Deledio, and a gap until Gibbs (whom I haven't seen enough of to rate).

1: M Murphy classy footballer good footy brain
2: A Cooney gamebreaker good footy smarts
3: M Kreuzer will be a superstar and bring in a new breed of ruckman
4: B Gibbs pretty good hard at it similar to sam mitchell
5: B Deledio explosive pace has to work harder

If you guys didn't cheat the draft you'd have all five of them lol
If you guys didn't cheat...
Hypocrisy alert! Do you really want me to remind you of the Hawks relentless unprecedented tanking and milking of the draft system they did over a 3-4 year period? lol. :)

Bullshit, we just picked well and traded some duds over to Fremantle and the Kangaroos.

There's a difference between getting rid of your veterans cos they are too old to win you a flag, and playing your veterans but moving them to full-back so they don't kick goals.
Bullshit, we just picked well and traded ...
You know that's a lie. The Hawks tanked and milked the draft system for all that it's worth. Went on for 3 years or so. :)

i'm glad a non-carlton supporter has finally pulled his head out of his arse and realised that gibbs is actually pretty hard at the ball, contrary to what some jealous posters will have you believe.

Cooney is still the biggest matchwinner.
Murphy's catching fast, and Deledio has the talent to turn it around.
Way too early for Gibbs and Kreuzer to figure in this discussion.

Let's leave Kreuzer out of this, too young and different player!
Deledio has the most skill. All would agree yes? Hardly ever wastes a ball, makes the player come to it. Murphy comes second.
Deledio has the most speed. Gibbs and Murphy aren't overly fast. Cooney is a second.
Deledio has the most versatility. Can play KP.
Deledio and Cooney equal in goal scoring ability.
Match winning ability atm is with Cooney. Good on him reallly doing well this season!
Let's look now ages, which isn't as big a factor.
From footywire:
Cooney 22 and 6 months
Deledio 21
Murphy 20 and 9 months
Gibbs is only 19 and 1 month (give him more time)
Average disposal this season:
Cooney 25 and 4 goals
Deledio 23 and 6 goals
Murphy 22 and 4 goals
Gibbs 19 and 2 goals
All will be 200+ game players!

IMO Cooney is the best by a fraction over Marc Murphy. Then comes Deledio followed by Kreuzer and Gibbs.
Even though I think Gibbs is the worst of the 5, I still think he is a good player and could become a very good player in the future.

gibbs hasnt shown anything this year. kruezer looks good but at this stage he is not better than deledio and neither is gibbs based on this years performances.
Pontential? Age? shall i go on?
yeah lets base it on age. Kreuzer>Gibbs>Delidio>Murphy>Cooney.
age has nothing to do with who was the better pick.
yeah potential, jared oakley nicholls has potential.
im not saying gibbs may not become a better player, but at least find some sort of realistic argument.
lol age, thats terrible considering what this thread is
Cooney is the best, as he should be with the most development time.

1. Cooney
2. Murphy
3. Deledio
The other two haven't played enough to be judged properly.
Deledio is so underated by the BigFooty crowd, 30 disposals, 1 goal and 5 tackles today, his disposal of the ball is emaculate and up there with the best in the league, is currently averaging 23.8 disposals, 4.8 marks, 1.2 goals, 2 tackles per game, also add to the fact he has just turned 21 and has played 68 games, not to mention he is the strongest player at Richmond and also he is in the Top 5 fastest players in the league(If not the fastest), and people actually put Gibbs and Kreuzer ahead of him!

Marc Murphy may not be better than Cooney at this very minute but he WILL be better than him within 1 year.
Hes appetite for the ball and speed he possess is very exciting to watch, even though im a Collingwood supporter.

Right now?
1. Cooney
2. Murphy
3. Deledio
All 3 are special players. Cooney the best of the lot at the moment, but that is to be expected seeing as though he's been around longer. Murphy is 2nd and is closing fast - is having a sensational year and could overtake Cooney in the not too distant future. Deledio is very exciting to watch, but just doesn't do it consistently enough for me to rate him above the other 2.
Far too early to judge Gibbs and Kreuzer, but having watched them a fair amount, I think it's pretty safe to say both will be very special players. It seriously would not surprise me to see Gibbs be the best of them, but there's a long way to go before that stage. Kreuzer could be absolutely anything but from what he has shown thus far he will be an exceptional long term player.
All 3 clubs should be extremely happy with their respective players as they all look to be future superstars. As a Cartlon supporter I'm lucky enough to be able to say we have 3 of them and I can't wait to follow their development from young kid to superstar.
