View Full Version : Pendlebury and Wellingham look alike

BUCKS THANKS
25 Apr 2008, 22:26
being at the game today sitting in the top stand I was calling out when Pendles got the ball to find out it was Wellingham. They are so alike in the way they move and dispose of the ball, they run the same, is Wellingham left footed, did anyone else have this problem or was I enjoying too many froffies.
Well played by both players today.

Jacked off at Medhurst he cost me lots of $$$$$$ had Pendles Anzac Medalist but had Pendles for most disposals as well. So will live with that one, super game from Medhurst

The bike shorts and similar builds did make it confusing. The AFL needs to do something about this, perhaps one wear a white guernsey ;)

Wellingham is dark-skinned and did have more convincing skins and padding on the shoulders, but meh, I wasn't at the game (ticketmaster screwed a few of us on that!).

Wellingham doesn't look too aboriginal or whatever he's supposed to be (basically he isn't too dark-skinned) so from afar I was confused even though Wellingham was almost like the mummy with all his strapping and the height difference. Goldsack and Pendlebury also look a like.

Where did you ever get the idea that all Aboriginals must look dark skinned?

This reminds me of this time at Pies training at the Gabba this year....
We could see a player over the other side of the ground, coming out of the race, I was pretty sure it was Leon Davis. My sister on the other hand was convinced it was Harry O'Brien (not that she really knows anything lol). Some other people around us were saying who they thought it was, most people thought it was Leon. Then my sister, upon realising that she was wrong, decided to say out loud "Well they're both black."
:o I slapped her over the back of the head then buried my own head in shame :thumbsd:. She often doesn't think before she speaks.....

No offence was intended by this post. :thumbsu:

Ok, then Aboriginal people that aren't very dark-skinned look a lot like tanned Caucasians.

I think they play quite a bit alike. Wellingham is good in traffic with the twists and turns out of trouble. He is quick when he needs to be but spends most of his time in a laconic jog. Neat footskills, good overhead...

I can see a lot of similarities.

As for the visual confusion, I didn't have that problem, but I think it was mostly due to the thigh-warmers/bike shorts.

Yes! I always get them mixed up. Think it's the eyebrows.

But it has to be said, up close, Sharrod is a very good-looking boy, while Pendles and Tyson, are more, well, pleasant.

I didn't say he was, I was endeavoring to point out a glaring error in his assumption.

BTW how do you know what he was or wasn't trying to be?

Jabso is a frequent poster.

he has been baited and and pillored to post to post bvy trolls and morons and never said anything that he intended to make offence by.

That post was not intended to be nor was it offensive.

Yes it was a guess but having read many of his previsous posts jabso is in no way racist of bigoted to it was an educated guess

I'll just put it down to the fact that you have an inability to understand the written word.

No one on here, including me said he was being racist, bigoted or even offensive.

Look I even bolded it for you.

And yes I know Jabso is a frequent poster, so what is you point?

The point I was making (even Jabso got it after my initial post) was that not all indigenous peoples are dark skinned.
I fully appreciate, you are having difficulty comprehending that premise, but I cannot be held responsible for your lack of education or ignorance.

i stand by my claim that there was nothing wrong with what jabso posted, he even said what he really meant. If you still have a problem with it move on.

if he calls me un educated or any other name again he will have a hell of a time fixing his msitakes.

If he took offence to your first post he should extract the digit and harden the ____ up, being called names is one thing but holding that up is stupid

There is a bit of the Cahills about him, yeah.

The Queen of Samples thought Sharrod was a "very cute little boy" and that he appeared about 14 years old. :D

Not necessarily
Some Koori's have what we Anglo's might term, fair skin.
Some Tasmanian Indigenous People were reasonably fair skinned (again using the Anglo term) too.

But that is not really the point.
Anyone who claims their heritage is Aboriginal maybe as white as me, skin colour is not the defining attribute.

I hope this helps with your dilemma

And he was merely saying Wellingham's lack of 'classical' aboriginal appearance was why it was easy to confuse him and Pendlebury. Absolutely no reason to pull him up on it.
