For us to become a top side again we are going to get beaten by sides as we did yesterday. Look at the cats and hawks they both were constantly getting beaten when their lists were being put together. When you look now they play their gamestyle consistantly and have a belief in themselves to consistantly win the ball. Dont loose faith guys lets just get behind the whole football club and get back to the top end of the ladder. We just need time and less injuries.:thumbsu:
I don't think the Cats we're continually pasted like that though.. Yes, Hawthorn bottomed out, the Catters didn't quite so much.

If we go down against a top side like Geelong so be it, there's really nothing you can do against such class.
However, Collingwood ARE NOT a top side and we absolutely let them walk all over us - that is unacceptable

It's not the loss, or the margin, it's the effort that everyone is pissed off with.

i second that. i really didn't mind being belted by 99 points to geelong; i knew they were a champion team and we were merely sticking to our game plan, and we continued running and chasing and tackling.
by the start of the third quarter against collingwood, our players simply stopped running and i remember on one instance at a boundary throw-in on the wing, it was knocked forward towards collingwood's end, and three maggies players ran on with it; not one essendon player was on screen.
in years gone by we could blame our lack of pace in players, but not anymore. they are supposed to be match-fit too, so i can only think of one thing: laziness. laycock is the king of this, and there are too many who don't appreciate the chances they are being given.

Exactly. Yesterday was embarrassing. I could cop Geel beating us by 99, we actually played well that day believe it or not.
Yesterday was just rubbish.

Agreed. It was nothing short of disgraceful yesterday.
On field, the club is in a lot of trouble. We can all shout from the roof about injuries, but if yesterday couldn't motivate the playing group enough to at least put in a competetive performance for more than a quarter, then no game will. Too many quality VFL players who are not up to scratch in the big league.

Easily the worst loss yesterday. The Geelong game ? We played some reasonable football that day, purely outclassed.Yesterday was just sad.

Even Sam Newman, in fear of being ridiculed, said we played well against Geelong.

What worries me is that if we dont do well in the next two drafts, the new teams are going to get all the top picks in the 3 years after that. That could leave a massive void in our team that could put us another 3-4 years behind.

Ummm....Collinwood are a top side. Just because they lost a couple of games doesn't make the bad all of a sudden. They will be top 4-6 this year without a doubt.

Top sides do not lose to Carlton.
Everyone perceives North to be a "run of the mill" side and they got beaten by them.
Collingwood have not beaten anyone above them this year. They will not be Top 4.
i know collingwood have started poorly, but i think it's rare for a team to go through an entire season playing well. not even geelong last year. i consider the genuine premiership contenders this year to be geelong, hawthorn, collingwood, st kilda.
