imagine how good Murphy would look as the number 7 midfielder.
Two things:
A) Selwood is in our first rotation now, so try for some new material.
B) Murphy could be the 200th midfielder, it won't make him kick any better.
I've seen Selwood make three errors by foot in his career (one last night).
I've seen Murphy make three errors by foot in three quarters today.

Bartel, Ablett, Ling better. With the rotations today you don't always have your 3 best in the first rotation. I do rate Selwood but I think he is overated in general by media and bigfooty posters.

I'd prefer Selwood at Hawthorn. Murphy is soft.

Selwood every day of the week. Selwood is an absolute star already. So is Murephy, but Selwood is something better.

unfortunately that is all you can do.Dont penalize players just because they play in a good side.selwood is better at winning the ball and is better at using the ball. Those to things are not easier in a better side.

very similar players. i'll try and compare different aspects of their games. selwood is probably a bit harder at the ball though murphy is still very hard at it. murphy is a better kick no doubt about that at all. both have a super amount of footy smarts. murphy is better around goals. selwood will probably end up becoming a player who gets more of the ball than murphy. murphy probably carries the ball a bit more than selwood. both have outstanding leadership. selwood obviously has the advantage because he plays in a far superior team. the major concern over selwood is whether his knee will hold up in 3 or 4 years time. if it wasn't for the knee concern, i'd rate both players equal cos i just can't split them but because of the knee concern and the fact that selwood is getting an easier ride at this stage of his career i'll vote for murphy. geelong were very lucky to have him available at pick 7. both players will be absolute superstars of the game.

Carlton supporters are deluded when think Murphys better than Selwood! Get over it, we've accepted that Franklins better than Tambling!
I'd prefer Selwood at Hawthorn. Murphy is soft.
How is Murphy soft?
Do you actually watch football or post here and pretend to know what you're saying?

how do you pretend with a quote like "murph is soft"?:o
it is clear cut this hawks supporter has no idea!
and just for the record I picked Selwood... it is a very very very close call but if I was choosing a vic team and I had to choose between the two for the last spot I would be picking selwood just because of the slightly better "extraction" skills otherwise they are on par with each other

There are so many Carlton supporters praying that Selwood does his knee so the Gibbs pick is justified. All last year it was said and plenty of times by you. The major concern for Murphy could be his shoulder going by that logic.

no not at all. you're making a very personal attack at me when you don't even know me. the last thing i'd wish upon any player (collingwood players included) is injury. i wish all the best for selwood in the future and hope he continues his rise to stardom (except when playing against carlton) but the fact is he has a suspect knee. there's no other way you can explain 6 other clubs passing him they must know something. he's just far too good to have gone at pick 7. and don't go saying it's because he missed matches that year and so the recruiters didn't get to see him. the recruiters had ample opportunity to see how good he was prior to the season he got drafed. as for murphy's shoulder being a major concern for him, well chris judd had what was it 2 or 3 shoulder recos before he played afl and if murphy can only be as good as judd i can live with that.
Selwood by so so much, He has Murphy covered in every aspect, not saying Murphy is bad, just Selwood is that good. 14 last quarter possessions when it mattered against freo.

i think selwood just ahead of murph at the moment,as geelong is far superior to carlton
to say far ahead is an overexaggeration and a little immature you must be a kid
its not a stupid poll, another childish comment by you!!

Selwood gets alot of his possessions at the bottom of packs, he doesn't get it passed to him because they like passing it to bartel Gablett and corey. Murphy on the other hand

There is no reason that the Gibbs pick should be justified. He was heavily rated as the number one pick from april that year up until draft day. For Carlton to not pick him up would've been a mistake. The fact is Selwood was never a number one pick with or without the knee concerns.
For the record, Selwood.

Now thats true we should not hold it against him because he is in a better side, that blocks for him creates space for him, and does all those things that good exspearienced sides do, BUT if he didn,t have so many brothers to play with as he was growing up would he be so bloody good, no he bloody would not, so if Murph had a few more brothers he would most deffinatly be a better player, he just would be ok.:p

Just another Geelong supporter being a hero.

Both young guns. Would go with Selwood as he has neater disposal and better decision making. Never seems to turn the ball over.
Would happily trade Eagleton and our first round draft pick next year for either one. Any takers?:D
Both very good players, selwood is more in an under than Murphy. Murphy is not soft. It would be interesting to see how Selwood would cope wit the attention Murphy got last year.
Selwood is a better player not by far, you would be happy with either player in your team.
For the record Selwood's last 1/4 on Friday night was unbeliable from a bloke who has played 25 games or so.
Cant split the two. Both are and will be brillant.
Agree with the fact that Selwood recieves alot more positive media attention than any other young kid coming through because hes in a winning side.

Selwood was overlooked by six teams, so thanks for your concern about a player who beat Thomas and laid the most tackles in that game. Gibbs is younger than first players such as Rhys Palmer and Steven Browne, so he should be cut at the end of the year. :(
Bentick also tackles pretty well...

Selwood hands down...both very good players, but i think the development of Selwood at Geelong was far better than what Murphy received at Carlton. Selwood had a lot of really good midfielders to model his game on, and he has a hardness about him that surely had something to do with the fact that bomber thompson was in a class of his own when it comes to playing hard footy (ie Archer, Woosha, Roos). I think Murphy would be as good as Selwood by now if Judd was at Carlton three years ago along with Brett Ratten

Both will be superstars. Selwood has had the opportunity to learn from a great midfield from the start which certainly has sped up his progress, he now is already a star. Murphy is finding his feet now that he isn't being tagged so hard as he has been. I would be very happy with either and I wouldn't think that much will seperate these two by the ends of their careers.

Selwood is better. He is the only one who will become a star.
