Last year we had the close wins and no percentage, because we weren't finishing teams off.

This year we lose the close ones, but manage to inflict decent damage on teams like the Tigers and Bombers. So we're sitting 3-3 but with a very respectable percentage of 119.7%.

Part of the credit for the latter has to go to Medhurst, who for the number of opportunities he gets in front of goal manages to convert a great proportion of them. He's got a very high "hurt factor", which is something we've lacked for a long time with streaky forwards like Taz and C3.

I wonder where it will take us this year...

i would have thought that we are losing the close once because of the lack of experience and leadership on field! no burns, buckley, rocca, clement, presti, lica all big game players who play well at the death...

To the same place it took us in 2006? :p, kidding.:D

Its great that we can finish teams off, but you could also mount a case saying that we didn't finish off Brisbane or North when we had the chance. Percentage has been a problem for the last couple of seasons so hopefully we can keep winning and winning big.:thumbsu:

We seemed to not relent when we got out to a solid lead yesterday, like we usually do. It was pleasing. Hope it continues.

Yep, it was excellent to see that, first time we've done it in ages. Hopefully we can take that momentum into next week's game against the Hawks.

Its the one thing we lacked badly last year (along with the 2 wins in a row thing:D), very promising to see us put a team away. Good to see the intesity didnt drop off and the boys really, really enjoyed running off with the game even when it was in the bag. It was exactly what the doctor ordered.

I think we should wait for after the next 3 weeks and see how our percentage is then, it will be a much better guide

I sat there in the last quarter and the bombers scored the first 2 or 3 goals and the first thing i thought of was, shit, now we are going to win this by the usuall 12 to 18 points when we could go on and win by 10 goals. Thank god we stepped up. Remember its all about percentage at the end of the year if 2 or 3 teams are on the same win rate. As for Medders i love it when he is finally getting the ball to team mates instead of having a shot every time he gets the ball. But you know something, deep down i am hoping he has the imposible shot cause when it comes off its brilliant, hairs on the back of your neck stuff. I know its a big call and who knows he might not get a goal in the next couple of games but i really belive he is going to be the big difference this year.

The hard thing to aaccept is, we could be 5-1 with a percentage of 120, and people would be wondering why we have a low % again!

Our % will be about 140 after we smash the Hawks next week ;)

I'm with you. Good to beat Bombers, but hardly an epiphany as far the team goes. Bombers decimated by injuries, young and outcoached. The game against the Hawks is the one that will tell us the story.

Percentage means nothing without the wins. Yesterday's result won't happen too often this year, and while it's a bonus, I'd rather have won those close ones! And I won't be complaining if we win the next 3 games by 1 point. :)
