No offense, but it looks like your going to be filling the bottom spot this year on current form. So using your number 1 draft pick who would you rather take.
I am interested as i think we are going to be down the bottom end of the ladder to. On current form anyway.
Good luck for the rest of the year. :thumbsu:

Stupid poll, work it out tool. We have no class ruckman under 30 yo's old. Who do think we will take!!
As for the number one pick, you guys might give us a run for our money. Your form is getting me worried that we may not even get the first pick.
By the way kerr doesnt want to be there hey? Pretty soon your premier mid-fielder will have to be out of braun, fletcher, masten or embley talk about choclates to boiled lollies.

well WA is a very simple place...hahaha... joking!
They say that Natanui is raw and could be a risk at pick 1. But then again, Buddy Franklin was overlooked for the same reason once by the hawks and dogs and twice by Richmond. He's gotta go number 1.

Don't count carlton out of the no.1 pick, if we lose to West Coast this week the chances of us winning more than 4 games is looking bleak.
For whats its worth Demons must take Natanui.
West Coast would take Rich or Natanui, probably Rich.
Carlton need all 3.
This picture was posted on the WC board. Look at Naitanui's leap.

O_o is that real?
O_o is that real?
Yup thats for real - and he's not 'boosted up' by the other ruckman either - that is how freakishly high this kid jumps in ruck contests - no kidding ya!
I think IF its Melbourne pick 1 and WCE pick 2, then it would make sense for Melbourne to pick up a ruckman they need, and for us to grab more midfield stock in Rich.

With White about to go our ruck division is looking bleak, no other choice but Naitanui.
On a side note, its dissapointing that this man is creating the most discussion on the board and we've just finished round 6.

That is true, but look at him... he can jump higher than superman!

Or if Melbourne could say get an out of contract Ruckman using their #1 PSD leverage (e.g. Warnock :() then you should take Rich. Lots of water to go under the bridge before then.
Why bother getting another average ruckman, ive seen Warnock play and he is a back up ruckman at best. We already have plenty of youth in the midfield i.e, Jones Maclean Morton we do not need to many more. What we do need (with Jeff White in the final stages of his career) is another ruckman.

I've heard Rich is clearly the best footballer of the coming draft and will be ready to step straight into any line-up, but Naitanui has too much potential to pass up on. You can improve a players skills over time, you can't teach a player to be 6'8 and jump 2 meters.
Rich will be good, they're saying best junior midfielder since the superdraft (ball, hodge and judd), but imagine if we past up Naitanui and he tears it up for another club. If we take him and he's a boil-over, at least we had balls and gave it a crack.
I'd rather take a risk to achieve greatness then go the safe option for 10 more years of mediocrity

If we do end up with the number #1 pick we should defienitly take the "Flying Fijian".
We would end up looking like fools if we had the chance but didn't take him....

2009 will loke like this,
White, McLean, Jones, Rich
or
Naitanui, McLean, Jones, McDonald
I think the first would be the long term solution, the seccond, probably a bandaid, but will still see a grandfinal appearance!

I disagree, how can Jeff White, a player that is on the wrong side of 30 be a "long term solution"? We need to pick up Natanui if we get the chance!
We have plenty in the midfield stocks with Valenti, Buckley, Sylvia, Moloney,Grimes and Morton.

It disturbs me to even think of this at this stage of the season. BUT we take Naitanui, trade off Jamar for a handjob, possibly P Johnson for a late draft pick.
We have ruck stocks, and based on previous years trading, we can do some good trades.

I agree with pj, how do you figure keeping a 31 y.o. ruckman in our side with no obvious replacement a long term fix?
The first one looks like a short term fix, because Rich will jump straight into the side, where as Naitanui has the raw ability to become a player that the game has never seen the likes of.
Neither will be bad picks, who ever finishes last will choose either ruckman or midfielder, 2nd pick won't be unhappy and 3rd pick wont be done too harshly by getting Hurley.
It has comparisons to picking out of ball, hodge or judd, but the choice is easier because they play different positions.

Great picture and having seen the kid play, par for the course. He has the type of leap that could make the opposition ruckman redundant at center bounces. He's also lightening fast and has quicker hands than the waco kid. Some have called him a freak which he's not, he's a SUPER FREAK!!!. He'll also put bums on seats and doesn't he look great in black and white:thumbsu: Unfortunately after this year I suspect it will be red and blue.

And before you answer bad or chronic injuries don't count because it's not MFC's fault that they are injury prone.(eg..Molan, Sylvia....ect)

With the way our players are dropping like flys I don't think you are quite the certainty for pick #1 :(
If anybody watched Adam Cooney (186cm) out ruck and rove Dean Cox (204cm) at the centre bounce and win the clearance on Saturday night then I think you get the idea of what Nick Natanui will be capable of in the future.

Naitunai is awesome....
Though It's an understatement need more talented midfielders.....

Oh, so that's his first name. I thought he was just "Naita".
If you get the choice ...bloody nice position to be in.
TFF or Rich - both look like very good bets.
Also on Robert Warnock - he is developing into a very good ruckman ...problem is the Sandman is a big impediment to anyones gametime.
Another way to look at is ....if for some reason you did swing Warnock (and I pray you do not) ...you have your ruck division settled for the next decade - with time for TFF to develop and maybe squeeze a year or two as a KPP back up out of Jeffery or even TFF.
Whoever finishes second will also be very happy is my guess.

I can't choose
Naitanui - Could potentially solve our ruck situation
Rich - Add shitloads of class to the midfield, and easily be our #1 midfielder in a year or two
Hurley - Could be the KP player we've been dying for

So next year we could potentially have 7 ruckmen on our list? Natainui, White, Johnson, Jamar, Meesen, Warnock, Spencer...

We wont take Warnock he is slightly better than his brother which makes him average at best. Jamar will be gone. White has 1 or 2 years in him at best. Johnson looks the goods he could even hold down CHF. Spencer is a rookie? and will be gone in a year anyway.
Get Natia, allow him to develop for a year or 2, in that time whitey and johnson can share the ruck and expose Natia to AFL without making him the number 1 ruckman. With Nieta retiring this year it could be a chance to move whitey forward and let Natia and Johnson share the rucking (next year).
Messen can be played as a tall mid fielder or wingman, it may be worth a go becuase if it clicks into place it will be hard to stop a 6ft 6 winger.

can we actually wait for richmond and carlton to win 4.5 games first. we all know how carlton tank and cheat for picks. wouldn't surprise me to see them only win 2 more games in 08

Carlton need all 3.
The Blues need to win 3 more to be out of compensation picks. It's 4 and a 1/2 wins and below that is compensated, your on 2. You'll win 3 more easily. Once Judd is fully fit, you'll win a few. I reckon about 8 wins this year.
