Pre draft
Good performance at U18 champs has seen you marked down as a certain top 5 pick. Your recent 16 possession, 4 mark performance against Oakleigh Chargers has posters buzzing especially with that left foot goal on the run from 30 meters out.
Draft
Wow. Fell to us at pick 9. Essendon head recruiter says you were top 3 pick. Phantom drafts had you in the top 5. Start sledging other clubs about their choice of pick. Looks a certain 250 game player and some are already saying could be a future captain of the club. I hope Knights plays him first game.
First Season
Six games for the club in first season. Didn't show that much but to be expected as wasn't chosen to debut until Round 12 which was far too late according to all concerned.
Second Season
16 games averaging 15 possessions per game. Developing well and club is happy so far. Talk of being a future captain has gone away though.
Third season
Great year. Play every game averaging 20 possessions per game. However is starting to cop a bit of criticism for being a bit of an outside player. Also not every one of those 20 possessions per game hit a target so disposal is obviously under question as well.
Year Four
Bad year for the club but another excellent year playing 18 games (4 injured) at 22 possessions per game. Posts appear slamming disposal though and there have been a few wanting to trade him now while value is still reasonably high. Apparantly there is a guy who just got 16 possessions against Oakleigh Chargers who looks perfect for us !!!!
Year Five
Another solid year despite interference from taggers. Had a bad patch during the season for about three games and was almost dropped for the first time in career. Talk of him getting traded continues and there have even been whispers of delistment.
Year 6 to 8
Manage to be a valued member of the team despite being ancient (age 25). Not an elite player by any means but not completely incompentant either.
Year 9
Injury riddled pre-season. Worst season so far. Jeered at games when gets a touch. Delisted at end of year.

Your forgot to add that he must be replaced by young draftee who has barely shown anything and struggles to get on the park because it's better for our future in about Year 9.

Nice work DT.

I will put my hand up to being guilty of a couple of those myself.

This is one thing I have not been guilty of doing, no matter how much I dislike the player.

I was thinking of Stants

Its a combination of Stanton, Dyson, Monfries, Myers, Jetta etc.

Amazing how ever since I've been on BF every draft pick has been a champion and yet only three years later they are spoken of as being ordinary.

I see there is a thread to send Gumby back to WA and proclaiming Myers to be the next captain of Essendon (which is strange as I thought Monfries was going to be our next captain.). Says it all really.

Haha my mind went straight to stants

That 25 year old good player is what we are missing atm, we have a number of 27+ and under 22 players yet barely in that 22-27 gap.

perfectly summed up DT. Very well put. I'm sick to death of all the negativity on these boards, but i guess it's inescapable.
I too, thought of Stanton. It amazes me how everyone has turned on him and called for him to be traded. He won't be, and he will be a long servant of the club as a pretty solid player; just because he isn't James Hird, or even Luke Power, doesn't mean he won't help us to our next premiership.

Nice post!
